Twitching foot in the end (spoilers)

In the end, right before the survivors take off you get a close-up of the crazy christian mom's foot and it twitches. What was the point of that? To show us that she was still alive? Naturally there's no way anyone would survive getting nailed to a wall by three large nails, one of them going right through your head. But obviously a lot of unrealistic things happened in this ridiculous film. So what gives?

They haven't made a sequel so far, but do you think that was an opening and a way to advertise a possible sequel?

reply

yeah i was thinking the same thing!

reply

Yes, because this is the first horror movie ever made that doesn't manage to present a 100% realistic scenario.

Personally I don't know why people look into things too much. If you think about it, it was really a death spasm that happened when the survivor was exiting a scene; so it was more than likely bad timing than anything else.

There is no way that that woman could have survived. She was impaled through the center of the head and remained there. The foot spasm, I think, was meant to just scare you a little bit into thinking, "Oh no, is she still alive?!" She is indeed dead.

I know I'm responding really late so I'm sure you have found the answer to your question. Initially they probably wanted to keep the mother alive for a sequel but since it's been 8 years they changed direction. I just watched an interview with Kane where he stated that in the sequel the mother is dead, but still present in the movie through flashbacks and memories.
