Never in my life have I been so...

...anxious to see a film. This is truly the kind of movie I've been waiting YEARS for. I'm a little perturbed to see how very little is published about this movie on the web. The trailer has me so amped that I even put it on my homepage and watch it every chance I get.

I know East Side Story is currently still playing at festivals and all that, but does anyone here involved with the movie know a ballpark of when it'll be available on DVD? I tried looking for a website for the movie or for its director Mr. Portugal but have been unsuccessful up to this point.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

Hey, I finally found a website -- it's the official MySpace page of the movie, check it out:

I'm sure it will be one of the first place to announce a DVD release.

Okay, I had to watch the trailer twice to understand anything that was going on. I'm still a little confused, but that's just an issue with the trailer; the movie could be great. Maybe I'll try it.

I almost never watch LOGO anymore, because I am annoyed by all of the commercial advertising they must rely on, worse than prime time network commercial breaks. I just happened by accident to run across East Side Story when nothing interesting was on the movie channels, and I was randomly flipping through the basic channels. I really enjoyed East Side Story.

This looks like it may have been made with DV cameras instead of film, I'm no expert, but it has that crisp, low-budget appearance of digital recording, rather than a traditional film look. It didn't hurt the quality of the finished video movie at all. Another digital video movie I enjoyed was Paris, (2003), with openly Out actor "hottie" Chad Allen playing a detective investigating the sex slave trade, with supporting actress aspiring superstar Bai Ling as his tragic romance. Locations were shot in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and the surrounding desert.

I also recommend another East L.A. Latin story with Out characters, and a male gringo couple from the "outside" moving into an Echo Park home, it's called QuinceaƱera which was also released in 2006, at the Sundance Film Festival. It's not necessarily a love story, but it's got sweet moments and tender coming of age themes, and people forced to make difficult choices with potentially huge consequences, and things about themselves and family members they cannot change and must choose to accept or not. QuinceaƱera reflects how in life, the ways we define the word "family" has taken on many new meanings. Here is it's IMDb summary: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0451176/

Bought in on AMAZON and am watching the DVD now. So, far... I hate it... It's boring. The actors are not very good and the sound is as if it was taped in someone's bedroom. Looks to me like soft porn or whatever it's called. The outcome is so obvious, it's not even funny.

I am not even sure I'll watch it to the end. Could there be any twist? I don't think so. So blah... I hope I can sell my DVD on eBay. I don't have an account yet, but I would open one, just to get rid of this DVD....

Well. I DID watch it to the end... gosh, was that a bad movie! I'll never watch it again and I won't bother with the special features...

Yawn!
