Throwing in my two cents! *spoliers*

So here’s an adaptation I had no clue about going, and coming out, I was extremely happy I saw this movie.

Pro:
Good lord, these visual effects were gorgeous to look at! Even when they didn’t look real, they were easy on the eyes.

The world that was set up in this movie is a world I want to know more about. The history behind it is interesting, the society that came to be is interesting, the class system is interesting, and I think that comes from the insane amount of detail that Cameron, and Rodriguez pushed for.

Rosa Salazar is Alita. She comes off as naive but not stupid, and every action she does is believable. This role is definitely not easy to play, but she did amazing.

You could not mechanically engineer a human to be a more perfect Ego, than Christoph Waltz. He makes the father side of Ego phenomenal, while somehow having him carrying a massive scythe seem 100% believable.

Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, and most of the supporting cast are wonderful and perfect fits in their roles.

The action in this movie was stunning. The fight choreography is so quick, and so well done, I was stunned every moment, and it all just keeps going!

Cons:
Keean Johnson as Hugo felt like a very generic romantic love interest, and in a world where every character felt much more fleshed out, he was definitely out of place. I don’t know if it was a director, or actor call, but either way, he didn’t work.

As much as I enjoyed this movie, dear lord was the pacing so fast. It felt like the entire movie was on fast forward. I understand they were trying to combine a lot of the manga into one movie, but that felt very rushed.

Overall, I loved this movie, and hopefully (please, please, please) when the sequel roles around, it’ll be great as well. I definitely recommend this
