Alita criticized over "sexualized" body

We live in strange times. Apparently the SJW crowd is criticizing the film because "her android body conforms to a sexualized 'ideal' body type."

Should've made her fat, I guess.

Oh dear... this crowd is destroying this world!!!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!

At least they don’t have real power though! Leave that to the totally not sensitive, entitled, and crybaby proud boys! Ya know, the majority of them being tubular anti-SJWs (the Hollywood-SJW-Globalist-obsessed incels) who approve of this current administration’s destructive policies, actual hate agenda, and overall circus show. Yes, the real threat.

By the way, it goes both ways. There’s already a plethora of Alita is SJW propaganda! garbage articles and videos courtesy of the “how dare you criticize us for bigotry and misogyny for our un-misconstrued bigot comments and clear alt-right agenda! We’ll sue you!” crowd. OF COURSE. Proof? Google and Youtube are your friend. I ain’t gonna give those goddamn pages another click. There’s enough of these triggered fascist-loving bros infesting many of these pages.

So how do you feel about nonsense like worrying about how "sexualized" Alita's metal body is?

Do you feel that this is an issue worth worrying about . . . or an even an issue at all? If so, would it have made more sense if they had given her the shape of someone who is overweight and not athletic at all?

Take your meds.

Cool, cool, cool. On another note, what did your mom pack in your lunch today?

You know. Your shit gets old. Were talking about a movie dipshit. Not fucking Trump. Your are just bad as the people you claim to hate. Fuckoff.

Well, her mind is still biologically a 16 year old girl, and as a constructed soldier from a war in the history of this future world, she might have been cloned and might have been bioengineered to perfection.

So, sorry to say it to the body-shamers, but a physically "perfected" female at 16 years old is also going to, according to nature, be as sexually attractive as possible.

If she lived up to 16 years of age in her original body training to be a soldier, like from birth, then she would know what good musculature looked like and what her body looked like. She's still human in that brain.

Shouldn't they be bashing Rosa Salazar for having a good body and being physically attractive? That's who is beneath the CGI. Alita is not a CGI creation, she is a human character being played by a human actress, who has a body that is 100% based on the design of the human body.

Oh no, the cyborg body has a protruding chest like breasts. Yeah, and the brain inside that body is a woman who would probably prefer feeling as human as possible.

The filmmakers and actress went to such great lengths to put as much humanity into Alita as possible, and this clickbait written for reactionary soccer moms is basically failing to see that (forest for the trees) because they aren't using any empathy here. They aren't wondering what it would be like to be in Alita's shoes.

Or they're just trying to appeal to the exact opposite crowd of Fox News.

reply

Good post. I agree with you.

As you say, Alita herself would want to appear as attractive as possible. And that's also a good point about Rosa Salazar. I didn't even think of that, but you're right.

I'll also point out that humans are sexual beings. I don't like when Hollywood over-sexualizes things, but the solution to that isn't too avoid sexuality entirely. The fact is, male viewers will like Alita more if she looks attractive. That is just biological nature.

As I said in the OP, we live in strange times.

Not to mention, the well-respected history of art shows an overwhelming appreciation for the sexualized ideal of the time a piece of art was done. Lots of nude paintings and statues, mostly females, and plenty of them are supposed to represent goddess and such, who were never actual living women.... Yet they are by default given sexualized bodies, breasts, hips, and a milk shake intended to bring all the boys to the yard.

"The fact is, male viewers will like Alita more if she looks attractive"

Females too. It's a proven fact that both genders prefer to see attractive examples of both the opposite gender AND the same gender.

It makes sense: One represents what one might desire, and the other represents what one might desire to look like in order to attract the first. (In the case of gay people, both of those examples happen to fall on the same gender, of course.)

I think a lot of this is just ugly people getting upset because an emphasis on sexuality or physical attractiveness just shines a light on their own flaws, and they don't like it.

Like I said earlier, I think in the past Hollywood has been guilty of OVER-sexualizing female characters. But you don't fix that by over-correcting in the opposite direction.

reply

"Well, her mind is still biologically a 16 year old girl"

Mind is not biological.

Mind also has no gender.

There's no such thing as 'mind that is a girl', let alone a '16-year old girl'.

reply

She doesn't have an unrealistic body. I mean, her proportions are pretty reasonable. You'd think they made her look like the original Tomb Raider or something.

What is someone building an android combat droid going to do, make "her" obese?

That is my question as well. I guess not enough metal cellulite on the back of Alita's thighs for the likes of some people. Probably needs some acne, too.

reply

Perhaps if the mechanical frame was brimming with all kinds of extra weapons everywhere, then it would need to take up more physical space.

reply

She looks athletic. How else is an action hero supposed to look?

reply

16 year old girls that don't subscribe to the warrior-ing of social justice, tend to be very attractive at top fertile age.

Imagine that.

reply

I wonder what happens when SJW's actually meet young girls that conforms that "body type". Do they tell them to not look like that?

reply

This isn't really about her being "over sexualized" , is it?
It seems more about weight and too many people topping the scales..
But then why would a obese or even chubby android make any sense?

reply

its one of the things i kinda liked about this movie. she was super hot. fuck the sjws
