All over the place + strange motivations

The film was great in some parts and then randomly odd in others ... Particularly the love interest stuff or when 'the bad guys' just let her walk around and stuff for no real reason.

Like it was awesome SciFi and then the next scene it is a tween flick...

Then there is the 'hunter warriors' ....

The backstory was significantly more interesting than what the present day characters were up to, they were all small time.

A prequel to this film would be a much better idea.

yeah basically it was shite. I walked out half way through, during the power ball shenanigans.... and believe me I was shaking my head smh

i agree and i thought jennifer connellys character was pointless, and her eventual fate was unnecessarily violent

The plot was overstuffed ... you see it all the time with films that try and adapt long-running manga series.

I thought it was entering, though. And I think a sequel would have been more coherent now that the world / background / characters had been established.

Yeah it was very muddled in its storytelling. Mostly, it seemed confused about who it's intended audience was. If it had picked one, then it might have been more focused. Since it didn't, the multiple directions it too were kind of loose-fitting and so was the story. Sometimes that works, but I don't think it did in this case.
