My girlfriend and I just watched the movie and we disagree about the ending. Does James shoot himself after his son, Darius, flees the scene or does he just fall to the ground and die resulting from being shot by his son. To me, it seems like he was only shot once and falls to the ground holding the gun. My girfriend thinks that he shoots himself while falling to the ground so that Darius is not convicted for murdering his father.
shareYou're right. There was only one shot. I would delve into the symbolism of the scene and why the single shot and only the single shot makes sense, but this obviously isn't the right crowd to be discussing the mechanics of the particular scene. That being said, the film was excellent, and the director and screenwriter deserve to have a bigger budget for their next feature film.

I thought the ending was B.S i mean ,James finally started making something of himself.he had a new son.a new wife or GF and his own eldest son KILLS him?this movie was great but had a d amn'Cold Mountain/Legends of the fall' type ending >:(

Here's what happens: Terrence Howard accidentally shoots Ving. Ving wipes off the fingerprints and gets life with a third strike gun charge. There's an Animal 2 BTW...

No one seems to mention this but that is the gun used to kill Spyda, as well. He may have taken it so his son wasn't linked to that killing.
