First episode tonight and a very promising start I thought - good characters, solid plot and some excellent filming using both live action and cgi to great effect.
All those people smoking though - it made me want to cough!`
Great kick off to a new detective mini series i hope will become a long running series starring Robert Lindsey as Jericho.
Sunday's episode was epic. ITV better greenlight a another series of this already. If Lindsey isn't doing anymore "My Family" then i'd hope to see plenty of this new detective series bloom out and become a major hit like all the other ITV drama hits in the past.
I thought Jericho showed a lot of promise. It was well written with plenty of plot to fill up the two hours. The casting was good and I liked the way it was shot, lots of moody angles and very good use of colours to represent the times. The 50's is an interesting era becuase of the cross of cultures, the old world being replaced by the new world. I liked seeing the leather jackets and jeans next to the trenchcoats and trilbys. They set up a nicely interesting backstory for Jericho although I thought his new DC was a bit wet. I found the music a bit over the top, it almost made the show feel tounge-in-cheek. Other than that it was very good and I look forward to seeing more.
I hope when not if, but when Jericho becomes greenlit for a new long running series on ITV. That the character wears a dark grey coat instead of the cream coloured one as in the first episode.
I parts of the first episode, i joked at home that he looked more like a 1950's British detective 'Lieutenant Columbo' instead.
I thought this was great. A wonderful thriller, a totally engaging world and an overall intelligence rare for TV dramas. I loved Robert Lindsay, loved the music, and loved the script. I really think it's one of the most complete and confident shows I've seen for years. Also - stop whingeing about the smoking everyone, it's what it was like in the 50's!
