Cigarette smokers and their palette

I just find it so humorous that all these ciggy smokers on the show, and there are probably more smokers than non-smokers, think their respective palette is so good and refined. Ramsey never calls them on it either, and I know I would. The palette of a smoker is non existent compared to a non smoker.

I never understood that other than the show may need some "elimination fodder"

I never watched this show. But I do not think I would want to be on it if there are smokers in it. I am a non smoker who cannot stand the smell of cigarettes.

Gordon has absolutely brought up the smoking ruining your palette on his other shows, like Kitchen Nightmares and the like. For some reason on this show, smoking must be good for the ratings or something. Like the more the contestants can't taste, the more he gets to yell at them for being dummies.

^ lol that's a good point.
i always wonder why these so called 'chefs' can't make a goddam scallop right. every. single. episode.

must be for hilarious entertainment and ratings.

I noticed this years ago, it seems over 90% appear to be smokers. Sometimes it looks like they have non-smokers in the mix just holding cigs but not pulling on them.
It makes you think Phillip Morris is the true sponsor of the show

Whether they smoke or not really shouldn't affect their painting equipment.

yeah but it seems and maybe is nerves at some point each season a contestant (smoker or not) will lose their minds.

Ramsey presents Carrots, contestant "Rice Chef" LOL!
