Heather lost the finale because of her relationship with Andrew. Gordon probably didn't see her as someone that would be a good fit in his restaurant. Just think of what would happen if she took a liking to one (or more) of her male subordinates. Her judgement is easily clouded. It's not just about cooking, it's about managing people in a fair and judicious manner. He has a business to run. Ryan was much more level-headed and business-like.
shareHeather wasn't assertive enough. GR had to tell her when to switch out chefs because Kim was bombing on meat. Heather should have done that on her own. Also, double dipping in front of the other chefs while she was cooking for them probably didn't help her cause.

shareThey decide which scenes to use and how to edit them. The Andrew thing should have been an issue only if it affected work. The others mentioned Heather still being young but they aren't much older. If that small amount counts then the chefs should watch out since she did come in second.
She's also a lousy chef from what I saw in the last season. My god... she stank
