Why did Bradley Walsh leave Doctor Who?

I heard that Bradley Walsh quit Doctor Who and I want to know the reason why? Bradley Walsh and also Tosin Cole quit as well. Did Bradley demand a bigger salary and they wouldn't give it to him? I started watching Doctor Who because of Bradley Walsh but lost track of it because I moved

We've not seen the episode he leaves but a lot of people only want to do a few series. There can be a few reasons such as wanting to do other things or not wanting to get typecast. The show might have wanted it to e.g. to introduce a new companion. I liked his character but 3 companions could be too much

Yeah and filming Doctor Who is a punish, especially for an older guy who already has a day job!

Shame though, Graham is a great companion.

Graham was the main reason why I liked Doctor Who and I was so excited when Bradley Walsh was gonna join Doctor Who because I think Bradley Walsh was so cute and I have liked him since The Chase UK and then I also got Season 1 of Law And Order UK and Bradley's two albums and now that he's going to not be on Doctor Who anymore I think the show's ratings will get low and people will quit watching it because Bradley made Doctor Who worthy of watching and I bet you that Graham will make appearences on Doctor Who from time to time in certain episodes in the future

While I like Bradley I disagree that a lot will stop watching. A lot of people have favourites e.g. a lot of people loved Amy and Rory, but doctor who is a show all about change e.g. the main actor changes etc. Some will leave, like some probably did when David Tennant for example left, but there will always be people watching who love the show. I also hope bradley doesn't come back - they are talking about a good but possibly emotional ending and I just feel when they keep bringing people back e.g. Clara, it ruins the emotional impact of their ending

Yeah, when you think about it, two years is a respectable run for a companion these days. Remember that Billie Piper was only around for two seasons as the main companion. Freema Agyeman, Catherine Tate and Pearl Mackie only had a single season each. It’s not as if Walsh and Cole’s departure is anything out of the ordinary.

I just hope they don't go for the usual cop-out ending. By that I mean killing them to bring them back. I'd rather they just left.

reply

Agreed. I would prefer a happy ending for those guys. No deaths, banishment to parallel universes, wiping of memories, conversions to cybermen or zapping back in time by angels! The companions rarely leave with a smile these days, I think those boys deserve to!

I mean I don't mind a death at some point if its a proper death. While Moffat is my favourite new who showrunner I feel death lost all meaning and felt pointless under him.

It's like he felt the companion had to be in mortal danger but couldn't go through with it. Sometimes them deciding just to leave can be good enough. The last Time that happened was probably Martha.

Look at Jo Grant's exit in the classic who serial the green death. Jon Pertwee's 3rd doctor drives of in a very sad moment. Nowadays they would have to force it a lot more, overpowering music etc.

However I do wonder if a death could be interesting in regards to Jodie's doctor. I wasn't that keen on 13 in series 11 but loved when we saw the cracks in her happy go luckily bubbly persona in series 12. If they did kill someone off (I don't personally think they will), it would be interesting to see how it effected 13, maybe pushing more anger out of her than usual, maybe making her more rectless etc.

Hey Pete! From the sounds of this article I’m leaning more towards deaths now 😢

Interesting. Not long to go now woo.

Sorry to spam you BTW but not sure if I shared you my forum. I used to run a Disqus channel for doctor who but they removed all the channels a while back.

The forum is completely dead at the moment but I'm planning after Christmas to see if I can get it a bit more lively and looking for anyone interested in joining with plans to also get a few mods. I just have had the time due to covid and working in retail.

If you fancy checking it out the links bellow. Trying to make it a fun and safe place and there's also sub forums for other non who related stuff
