What would the prequel be about? A lower-class girl living in London and not time traveling anywhere? Does the article talk about the plot...?

reply

Not really...

"While no more details were given by Davies or the watch-along’s organiser Emily Cook, it seems likely that this “prequel” material was intended as part of the celebrations around The Day of the Doctor (coincidentally, the first of the series’ episodes to get this simulcast treatment), only to not make the cut at the time."

I'm not saying it can't go anywhere, but it just seems like...

I never watched Gotham for the reason that it was "Batman without any Batman in it". Why? That's the reason I'm watching the show. So, saying, "It's Doctor Who but with no Doctor!" and I just...meh.

More importantly, it's set before anything exciting happens to Rose. So, the "inciting incident" in her story is the Doctor, but this before that. That differentiates it from other (well-received) prequel shows like Better Call Saul, or spinoff shows like Torchwood.

Well yeah but this isn't intended to be a stand-alone prequel, it's just extra footage they recorded for the 50th anniversary special. More like a treat for the fans.

I suspect it will focus on the Doctor, not Rose herself. I'm guessing it will be similar to the Night of The Doctor where we got to see the 8th Doctor's regeneration to the War Doctor.

Just a fill-in to keep the nerds (like myself) happy :)

Oh, okay, that makes more sense - way more sense.
