would this not make a kick ass movie?

DAWN OF WAR FANS! UNITE!
i think that dawn of war would make the most kick ass video game based movie of all time. i think it could be a summer block buster, if time and thought were put into it. space marines and tau should be the featured races, for the first movie. then the sky's the limit for a sequel!
thoughts?

the only thing that would stink is that, you know, video game movies, for the most part are horrible/have little pr nothing to do with the game.

that aside, done right, this would be an awesome movie. a two hour extension of the opening cut scene would be enough for me....

You are a disgrace to your Phylum, Order, Class, Genus and Spe...
YOU, sir, are an ASS!

Indeed it would. it be toned down sadly. Cuz this is a brutal *beep* game.

and alot of the Quotes Seem Pretty Extremist and Marxist.

Yep it would, the only problem is,that a movie was due to be made of the Bloodquest graffic novels, but they ran out of cash or something.
I would love to see marines strutting their stuff on the big screen, but it won't happen for a while, more's the pitty.
P.S many moons ago Games workshop tried to get a Space Hulk movie off the ground, but nothing was heard of it.

Yea, I agree with Orkgeneral, Totally CGI, it'd make things look awesome. Same voice actors too, Lord Bale's Voice ruled, Scott McNeil rocks hard.

Personally I'm far more in favour of an epic trilogy ( a la star wars / lord of the rings) concerning the horus heresy. That would just be awesome.

*beep* a,i have often thought about a film being done about the heresy ever since the origianl space marine game (epic) was released back in 89.
I also remember games workshop disscusing a space hulk movie about 90/91 ish, that also would be cool to see.

There's a bizillion different books based on the WH40k universe, and there's a massive fan base for it, as long as it was done properly i'll go along with an epic trilogy, but i'd probably prefer a live action film.

This a great game to make into a movie, the games has been around since the 80's and it has a plethora of background information that could be made into a saga the same length as Star Wars. It is just as rich in detail as Dune and LOTR. A CGI version would be great though a movie with live actors would be good to see... well as long as Owe Boll doesn't have anything to do with it.

reply

Hmmm maybe, maybe not.
As a fan of 40k (both the computer games and the TT game) i have my own opinions though.
If i were to make a 40K movie I would either base it on the Battle of Macragge (tyranid invasion of the Ultramarine howeworld) or on the brilliant Gaunt's Ghosts novels by Dan Abnett.

Count me on board for a massive trilogy based on the HH. Who would you like to cast for the main parts?

Jaghatai Kahn-Chow Yun-Fat
Leman Russ-Paul Levesque
Lion El'Johnson-Christian Bale
Horus-John Malkovich
The Emperor-??
Sanguinus-??
Just spitballing.

The Emperor would have to be Burce Campbell of Evil Dead fame because he is actually great!! And he would look good in the armour! My reasoning being that the space marines armour kinda looks like flare and brucie was elvis in Bubba Hotep. Hail to the King Baby!!

Incedentally I am writing a story for Warhammer fantasy, as a film. Can anyone help with publishing? Messages on a postage stamp please!
