Question About Ending ( Spoiler )

Was Hans always at the Spa or had he arrived on the cargo plane?

O r was that plane to take Kate home to New York?

Didnt quite follow it at the end.

If Hans was always at the Spa, why was Madame Helena sad about him leaving and not seeing him?

Didnt make sence

Can someone shed a little light

Great game though, apart from the rather abrubt ending which sets the sequel up. Is Syberia 2 on par?

sorry to answer it 2 years later, but here it goes:

If you saw the hotel register book on the reception desk, you could see that Hans Voralberg stayed in the Hotel from 1981 to 1985. So, no, he wasn't in the Hotel all the time. Yes he came on a cargo plane which landed at the Hotel peer docks. He was probably building train whineding machinery on the way to Syberia. Madame Romansky was in love with the inventor, he left her the automaton James to take care of here, since he was obsessed with Mammoths and Syberian planes.
At the end he sined the factory ownership papers and never got to read the terms, cause he can't read. After that, he offered Kate to come with him, which she initialy refused, and thought to take the plane back to NY, but when she got to the plane she realised she has changed and that NY wasn't the place for her after all (as the hotel manager said, she opened her eyes); her mom was only interested in relationship with the opera singer, her fiance cheated her with her best friend and her boss was taking advantage of her anyways. So she ran to catch the train and continue her adventure with Hans and Oskar (I call him C3PO :))) rather than live a dull and sad life in NY.
