One of my best gaming experiences

Pleased to see that this game is deservedly rated so high. It's been a long time since I played Syberia (and no longer can), but when I think back on games that left a lasting impression on me, this obscure non-shooter game still comes to mind as one of the best.

I recall the mysterious settings, the cool steam punkish design of things, the challenging puzzles, and the quiet and relaxing pace of the game. It was just nice not to be shot at or constantly imperiled for a change, and earning the satisfaction of figuring things out with your mind to advance the story.

I am always looking for a similar game experience but this type of game is rare.

Hmm.. actually it's still widely available on digital platforms like Steam (www.steampowered.com), or Websites like Good Old Games (gog.com). They update the games so they can be played on modern Operating Systems and computers. I'm playing it now in 2015.

I'm playing a demo version on android right now and am enjoying it all over again after playing a PC version years ago. And now it seems that Syberia 3 will be finally coming out some time in 2016. I look forward to seeing what happens to Kate Walker and if she is leaving Hans behind.

Sean Plott and his friends on his Day(9) YouTube gaming channel recently attempted to play Syberia on their weekly live stream show. They gave up while trying to solve the Barrockstodt University section. Sean hated the slow pace and what he felt were unclear goals within the game and thought it was all so bad that he couldn't continue. I was sad to see them give up on it and be so harsh. I think it was more the situation of a game that just didn't work with the format of Sean's live show. Syberia is a game that is indeed long and requires concentration on the dialogue and puzzles. I hope they will later take a look at a Let's Play to better understand what the developers were going for. Syberia as a game might be showing it's age, but I definitely think it's not a horrible game.
