Kathy.....do you even have an ounce of intellect in you?!

Meh, the general going public aren't really fans of docos (except say Michael Moore highly publicised films).

The people that have seen it and will see it when it hits TV's will enjoy it. I have no doubt.

It was a great film, I think.

Maybe the TV audience wont like it based on what some people on here are saying... >_>

^ True. Probably some brain dead rap fan.
They never even had it in the cinema here in Cardiff, Wales, UK. Which is pathetic. I want to see it.

Or maybe fans of real music and not this garbage he is passing off as the be all end all of music.I agree with everyone that says this movie is bad.I like documentary's but this one wasn't worth the time I wasted to watch it.But you see I am biased because I am actually a musician and I understand music, something these people on the movie obviously don't.Including that dickhead "teacher" who just screams at people hoping they get good, which they don't, they always end up mediocre.Of course I don't know how long they have been playing, so maybe I am not giving them enough credit, or maybe I am giving them too much credit?

I just love watching snobby movie reviewers reviewing a movie they don't understand since it involves things that actually require use of your brain.

By the way, anyone who is a fan of rap is indeed brain dead.No truer words have been spoken.

The reason that this film didnt do well at the box office is because it did not have a chance to expand to more theaters. I remember waiting for this to come out then reading that it had been pulled after the first weekend prior to expanding a few thousand theaters because they didnt think people were going to flock to this rated r movie about kids. That doesnt mean at all that is was a bad film or that people werent receptive. It just means that people never got the chance to see it or not.

I'm also a musician (20 years) and think this is an inspiring film for kids (the 'R' rating might prevent some from seeing it until they get the DVD) and adults alike. Yes, Paul has unorthodox teaching methods, but you can't deny two things: 1- What he does works (the Zappa concert is proof!), and, 2- He really does love his students, they know it and, like he said, half the time his rants weren't serious.

We also need to understand that through editing for time and continuity we don't get the whole picture of Rock School. If you've rented the DVD and watched the audio commentary version this becomes quite apparent, as they expand on what wasn't included in the final version, setup sceens, etc. One thing they stressed was Paul's outbursts where often a small portion of the sometimes 2 1/2 hour talks he gave the kids. The bottom line is if Paul's teaching techniques didn't work Rock School would've folded long ago and wouldn't be opening up other Rock Schools across the nation.
