Music

What sort of music does this Rock School play? Is it like modern rock, like, 'I hate myself and my life sucks and my girlfriend hates me even though I have 80 bazillion dollars' or is it like Winger or Whitesnake or Warrant, 'I'm so great, I got money, let's have a party, and some sex' or is it more like Zeppelin or Sabbath or Rainbow and more blues-based, or what?

No, seriously, I do not know. 'Rock' is such a broad term now!

By the looks of the cover i already know that this movie is going to suck. First it is called rock school rock sucks. Rock and roll is what the kids need to learn about not rock. Rock is crap music made by low talent punks that only play three chords and have no idea where the music has come from only what they hear on the radio. They need to make Rock and Roll school whear kids are taught the roots first the blues that started rock and roll Muddy Waters should be required listening if you want to graduate from highschool. Then chuck berry the orinator of rock and roll then Bo diddley. then the Rolling stones Beatles Beach boys Kinks
Early Who BOb Dillian then Led Zepplin Velvet Underground The New York Dolls David Bowie Sonic Youth Pixies Guns and roses Early Motey Crue. Educate the kids on this and they can create great popular music not emo punk or what is popular today but legendary band s that new where their music came from and how to play it with poer.

sabbath is overrated they got buy more on looks then on substince.

Umm..

This isn't some "I hate life" emo thing. The School of Rock actually does teach most of the above.
Also "Rock n' Roll" would be bands like the Stones, and "Rock" would be bands like Led Zeppelin. All the crap music today is not "Rock", it is called "Emo", and "Pop Punk". We rockers do know how to make real music and we do know the difference between the key of C and A (in case you were wondering, A is the relative minor of C, Mr. Know-it-All). As for chords, I really don't think you would want me to go off naming all of the chords I know. Do some more research before you start going off yelling and screaming about a type music you obviously have respect for. The movie is an independent documentary about The Paul Green School of Rock, and if you want more information check out www.schoolofrock.com.

P.S.: Black Sabbath was an amazing band and if you had any musical knowledge at all you would know how much skill it takes to write and play that music.

P.S.S.: Don't judge a book by its cover.

P.S.S.S.: Nice grammar.

Yeah knowing chords and musical theory really means you can write great songs, yeah right. You call yourself a "real rocker" yet you talk about Black Sabbath needing alot of skill to write and play it.Give me a break, if you were a "real rocker" that should be easy as piss to play.Writing on the other hand is hard to do well for most people.

If you want to talk about skill talk about a band with skill, like a prog band such as Dream Theater.

To the guy asking about the music:
It's pretty much all Frank Zappa and pretty damn boring, the teacher forces his musical "taste"(or lack thereof) on his students and it's all Zappa. There is some Sabbath though.

ok, knowing theory REALLY helps making good, interesting music... and if you think frank zappa is boring, you sir, are wrong. I like dream theater... a good band.. great musicians... cool music... one thing about sabbath, they were revolutionary... not many folks were playing stuff like that at the time... and whoever said teach muddy waters to bo diddly/chuck berry to whoever the hell else... they're right... 100% on the money. at least give the kids the background.. give them a chance to listen to it and see if anyone digs it... and yeah, the teacher does come off as a real jerk... I think he's very insecure... possibly because of a small penis? Or maybe he didn't get enough hugs as a kid. Either way, small penis of not, he's doing some really cool stuff.

I meant the movie was boring.I haven't heard much Frank Zappa music so I can't comment on it.And I also wasn't saying anything bad about sabbath, just that their stuff is easy to play for a real guitarist. The thing that pissed me off the most about this movie was that little kid who played the solo at the end of the movie and had people bowing to him yet his solo was the sloppiest thing I have ever heard, it was horrible.People shouldn't try to play harder stuff than they can.The older kid playing guitar had a much better feel for the guitar than that little kid, yet they focused on him.Ugh.

while i agree with you they should learn about rock and roll and the music they are playing you have no idea what you are talking about your just naming bands off the top of you head i mean if you gonna play rock and roll dont go back to the 50's you have to start with bands from the british invasion like the yardbirds and kinks then, go on to bands like jimi hendrix during the sixties, and cream, then eric clapton, bob marly, led zepplin, bob dylan, david bowe, see they would develop style and a method from these guys dont just name bands just name bands that have an impact or will have an impact to the people that listen to it.

OK, seeing how the thread is called music I have a big question. What song did they play in Germany besides "Inca Roads"? I'm talkin about the first song.
Is it another song of Zappa or is it someting that they wrote?
Thank you.
