The article was interesting, but I don't recall seeing it mention the Gene Fullmer factor
in the whole 1962 affair

shareIt actually does mention the Fullmer fight. I remembered reading it and remembered that it had a line about the Fullmer fight being hard for a sadist to watch. It's still one of the best lines I've ever read.
Here's the mention.
