the Duplass brother's joke is on you dawg

"If, dude, you can, like, have your friend hold up a camera and have, like some other guy use a boom mike but you know - not like - whatever - have it not in the frame and then sorta write a script. Dude! You can get funding. You can make a movie. You can get it - like - distribution... - distributed! No, dawg, for real. For real!. My bro and I - we did it!..."

That's not dialog from the movie - I just made it up. Call it a meta-parody.

The camera shakes, the sound's bad, the dialog is like what you'd hear at Denny's if you sat next to a group of nimrods discussing like - you know - whatever.

That bad? Yes and possibly worse. I decided to take a break at the 15th minute. I'm debating whether or not I should watch the rest. The film seems to be the Duplass brother's idea of a practical joke: they wanted to see if they could get the funding and distribution for straight up pretend youtube quality motion picture with about 80 minutes of story.

I mean, dude, seriously... But you know what? The joke's on everybody else. They got their funding, they made their movie and it was distributed.

Well, I downloaded it off bittorrent. So there. I mean, dude. Money for that piece of crap? No dawg. No. HEEEeeell, no. No.

Your entire post became redundant the moment you admitted stopping the film after 15 minutes.

I liked the movie better than "Farmer" did, but his parody is pretty on the mark with regard to the semi-articulate, Dumbest-Generation, "dude/whatever/like"-heavy dialogue.

Obviously i noticed that Mark said 'Dude' or 'Man' every second word but it did'nt make me switch off after 15 minutes & i'm glad about that as i really enjoyed it in the end.

But i don't agree with calling the Duplass's dumb. This was them cutting their teeth , finding their feet as movie makers (on a non existent budget by the look of things).

& yeah if you switch a movie off after 15 minutes you are no position to critique it , it's like watching a trailer & then starting a 'worst movie ever' thread - completely redundant.

I shut it off after 15 minutes. The camera operator alone ruined the movie.

I am shocked that this got into Sundance.

I have to admit the first major turnoff was Mark constantly calling his girlfriend "Dude", (along with everyone else).
I've enjoyed him in other films so I thought I'd give this a try but it wasn't easy primarily because of the sound quality. One of my biggest pet peeves is having to crank the volume than turn it down...repeat...over and over again.
However I will continue to watch the whole thing, hoping it will surprise me!

Just needed to share, thanks!
