Guys have to perform like dogs.. (spoilers)

I've thought about this several times, but this movie got me to see it more clearly.
In a relationship girls just have to be somewhat pretty. Then the guys have to constantly prove that they can be romantic or have feelings. Because all girls are made up of heartshaped chocolates right. The best examples from the movie is when josh says those emotional things when rhett gets married and when josh sings his song. This is what guys have to do. And girls melt. What else do they do in return? They show appreciation. Gawd, most relationships are like a loong episode of pop idol, where the girl is the judge and audience.
This isn't at all any interpretation of the movie, just an observation linked to real life.
