Flawed DVDs?

Just wondering if anyone else's copy had a stop motion delay every five seconds or so throughout the film. I'm not certain if the problem is with the disc I rented from Netflix, or with my player itself. Any responses would be appreciated.

Right. Well, I have to-- I have to go now, Duane, because I, I'm due back on the planet Earth.

my copy has the same problem. i bought from cdconnection and reported the problem to them. their response was to send a second copy minus jewel case but the problem is the same. so is the problem a completely flawed edition? a flawed batch? or are mine and "corky-27" dvd players at fault? if anybody has a "working" copy then i'd appreciate them posting details of the seller. fingers crossed that it is just a flawed batch.

Hello, bluezorrs, with your post I'm confident that it's not our players at fault. If no one posts here claiming to have a functional copy, then it's a good bet that the entire run may have the defect (because arty titles like this are rarely mass-produced). I was able to watch the movie (which I liked quite a bit) despite the highly irritating glitch, but I had only rented it. If I had bought a copy, I would demand a refund from whomever I had bought it from. Good luck on your end; Corky.

Yeah, I've heard of this problem before. It seems to happen with limited runs, like the art films, as you suggest. Mass-produced DVDs are usually stamped and more often are glitch free. But smaller producers sometimes choose a DVD blank that is incompatible with some players. It has something to do with DVD+R vs DVD-R. You'd think the end result would be the same after finalization, but it isn't.

I got this movie from Netflix and had the same problem when I played it on my computer using Windows Media Player. I then played it using the InterVideo DVD player and it worked fine.

Mine played fine.

But then, I have Blockbuster Online, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

This time, Effie White's gonna win.

Whitney was wrong. Children are no longer the future.

Yes,I had the same problem,I rented it from Netflix as well.I tried it on two different players, before I sent the disc back for a replacement.Luckily, the second one turned out okay, but then it was watched on yet another player...
Funny to find out it wasn't just me though!

I got it from Netflix and had the same problem.

I bought my copy in 2006, watched it then, and it was great. No problem at all. Just watched it again, same thing. Two different players. Very nice film by the way. Excellent casting.

Same here, got it from Netflix and it's flawed, skips ever few seconds.
