Check in to The Motel at MySpace

We are about a month away from our theatrical release. Yes, it's true! The Motel (http://www.themotel-film.com), the film you have either saw and loved or have been eagerly anticipating is finally making its way to the movie theaters. Yes, the regular movie theaters with the popcorn, the soda, the comfy chairs and the sticky floors. Real movie theaters!

Right now, we are going to be premiering the film in NYC at The Film Forum (http://filmforum.org/films/motel.html) on June 28th. Then the film will move on to other cities.

You’ve probably heard this before with other films out there (like Cavite (http://www.cavitemovie.com/) which opened in NYC and LA this weekend and you should go see), but when you are dealing with a small film with a respectable-sized distributor like we have (Palm Pictures http://www.palmpictures.com/index.html), the word of mouth is the most important aspect to the life of this movie.

What cities and which theaters and when it widens in release will depend a lot on how well the film does during our opening two weeks in New York.

This is phase one (http://www.myspace.com/themotelfilm) in our attempt to get the word out. And you are a big part of it. Please tell your friends in New York to come out and see the film. BTW If they want to check out Superman that weekend, we open two days before, so they can see them both. (And I think they'll find that they work well as companion pieces – Kryptonian going through life crisis living among Earthlings and Chinese American boy going through puberty in a seedy motel).

So we’ve jumped onto the MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/themotelfilm) bandwagon! Why? Well, not only because it seems like the thing to do these days. And of course, there are going to be regular updates on The Official Motel Site (http://www.themotel-film.com) with screening dates and places if you aren’t interested in joining yet another internet community. But we have some fun plans in anticipation of the release that will be easier to announce, update and present on MySpace.

So please come by and >check us out. (And tell your friends.)
