40 minute run time
Why the heck is the US version 60 minutes shorter than the regular version? What did they cut out?

Where do you get the "60 minutes shorter"? I see no evidence on IMDB that any version was more than 40 minutes. The DVD has a couple of extra features. The aspect ratio is 1.44. Perhaps one of the numbers is confusing?
