Why a Breton name?

I just saw this movie and...
Does anybody know why the main character played by Vincent Elbaz has a typical Breton name and a typical Breton surname?
Has it any importance in the story?
That may look like a stupid question but that just striked me after seeing the movie.
Maybe that's a choice that means nothing special from the director Rémi Bezançon (who isn't Breton at all by the way...so that's maybe why i was surprised...).
If somebody got something i didn't or has the info, that would be very nice to answer.
