So did the Fat guy have Money or Not??

Okay cool, this fat guy that Jennifer Aniston's character gets along with so well turns out to have a large inheritance. Then when they are alone in bed she brings up if you're so rich, why did you knock down my $65 dollars to clean you're house to $50. His Response says he has issues.

Issues that he just lied about having money? Or issues he's really cheap?

Although also towards the end the semi-gay husband character says to his wife that he noticed how nice the fat guys cashmere jacket was. That it cost a lot of money thus no broke guy could be wearing a jacket like that.

This is for Allah... and it's going way out there sucka...

I think you may have answered your own question. Good work.

I wondered too if he was really rich until that part about the jacket.

He might have been going thru some personal identity crisis like Frances McDs character. He let himself go to see if anyone cared?

i don't think Olivia would leaave this guy. Based on her personality I think she would marry him and spend the money making the life she wants. She could help him lose weight, develop self esteem have a kid.

Then if she wasnt' happy divorce him and get a big settlement.
No way was she going to throw away this chance at "money".

Some people with a lot of money are cheap; it's why/how they have money in the first place, always looking for a deal or bargain.

And landing a windfall doesn't make you think rich. Getting an inheritance wasn't going to instantly cure any prior issues he may have had. Maybe it was a shock to his system. And an inheritance implies death so he was perhaps still mourning the deceased? I think he really had the goods but was working through other stuff, hence the quirks.

It occurred to me that the fat guy may have told the inheritance story just to get Jennifer Aniston to bed. Now that would have been a miserable turn for the Aniston character, if the fat guy had said after sex: "I have issues, I'm a compulsive liar, I lied about the money, but I still want to be your boyfriend".

But I guess the cashmere jacket line was included in the movie to erase these sorts of doubts.

That is interesting and plausible in real life for sure..lol

I do think he had money though and didn't have to work. However, I'm surprised he didn't wait til after he slept with Jennifer to tell her. It was obvious she liked him, but he should have sealed the deal before telling her or he'll always wonder if she likes him more or the money. They all got problems though, so I guess that would be too easy.

What I think he meant in the bed was: he has issues with people not with lying. Something bordering on asperger's or autism. That's why he haggled with her aka did something weird which turned out to be offensive.
I mean it's just a movie and it doesn't really matter but I really would have wanted for that aniston character to get a break.
