Can someone tell me how the story ended?

I loved the show when I was little but it just dragged on for too long. I didn't have time to watch the second half of the series.
However the question of the ending has bugged me ever since. Did they reach China? Did they confront the Empress Dowager? Did they free their father? What happened to their protector, that Chinese scholar?

reply

From memory, they did reach China and save their fathers. There was no confrontation with the Empress Dowager, because she escaped before the rebellion (eventually died).

Their protector turned out to be every single person that helped them throughout each stage of their journey. He turned out to be some kind of mystic, but dies in the last episode after their parents are saved.

The other thing was that at the end, the two were separated.

reply

Actually, they weren't separated. Their fathers were going to take them off separately, but the Twins gave them the slip and the last image was of them taking off together (undoubtedly for another adventure).

I need to rewatch this show: but there is no means in which I can. I could have sworn it ended with the twins splitting, but then again it has been 10 years since I seen that last episode.

Out of interest, was the show based on a novel? If so, who wrote it, and what is the title of the novel?

reply

The series ended by the Twins replacing the tablets on the altar of the Temple of Heavenly Harmony, which freed their fathers from being statues. As their prophecy had been fulfilled, their magic power faded and ws gone.
They never confronted the Empress. Pudong, the guy that was trying to kill them, tripped and fell on top of his own axe and died.
It also turned out that all the people they met on their journey, were all the one person, who was a mystical force sent to help them.
Their fathers planned to go their seperate ways but the Twins ran away together in the end, not being able to be seperated.
This series was not based on a novel. It was entirely based on the creative genius of Jean Chalopin.

reply

I thought it might have been based on a novel, as a main character mentions something about writing a book about it.

Is there going to be a DVD release of the series?
