Where the heck can i get this show?

I loved this show as a kid, but i want to know why the hell i cannot find it on dvd, video, or even on a dead format. I would even be willing to spend ages downloading if i could, its just that it seems that the only thing that i realy want to download is not available, and i cant even tape it off the tv since the ABC (Australian brodcasting corperation) hasnt played the show in a number of years. (I think it must be getting very close to ten years since they last broadcast the series. If anyone knows of any way that i could get this show, i would love you forever if you could tell me exactly how. heck, i would even a french version without subtitles.

I've been looking for it for AGES!
I think its well over 10 years since the ABC last played it.
Clearly there isn't exactly a wealth of information on it.
Very annoying. Someone help us! There MUST be someone SOMEWHERE in the world with copies of the episodes. We just need to hunt them down!

wow i'm not alone i see...

i think i was about 9 or 10 when i became addicted to this show, i even remember taping it on video before although who knows what happened to that... there must be some way of getting a hold of the series... *dreams*

The opening theme is available on YouTube in the original French, in Italian and even the English version that we Aussies saw...

The French and English versions are similar except for lyrics, but the Italian version is completely different in scenes and song melody and worth a look!

Hey if you've been told or advised where one may be able to get copies please advise. This is so darn frustrating. Sadly there is so little info.........

OMG if you look up "Twins of destiny" on youtube they have the first episode except its in french with no subtitles.

There are a few full episodes (each in 3 parts) on YouTube, in French (under 'Jumeaux du bout du monde'), Italian (under 'Gemelli nel segno del destino'), and German (under 'Die Kinder der Mondgöttin').

They don't have all the episodes but they do have some good ones (like the first few episode, the final episode, adventures in Greece, Middle East, etc.) Unfortunately, no English, just French, Italian or German.

Most have the episode number (so you can refer to IMDB episode list), title, and then which section of the episode (ie. 1/3, 2/3 or 3/3) as they're posted in three parts each.

Wow, what a coincidence that I happened to stumble on this thread just now when they're up for download. I've also been a long time fan, ever since it aired, and have been trying hard to get the eps. There's just something nostalgic, yet incredible about the series.

Thanks a lot! I just hope people 'll get them before the links expire.

I've watched your youtube vids, and now to see the English version again, well - I hope a kiss from another man won't be too inappropriate! Thank you very, very much for providing these. I'm sure I'm not the only one you've made very happy.

One thing I always noticed about TOD was that the quality of animation was sometimes a lot better in certain episodes (1 and 3 for example) and more budget-oriented on others. I guess there must have been two animation houses or something? I've always wanted to know more about the production of the series, but there's very little information on the net.

Kind regards to you, CHristian. All the best, and thanks again. Viel Glück in finding the Deutsch version!

Thank you so much mate. This stuff is gold - I haven't seen this since I was 5 years old, it's been very hard to find. I couldn't remember the story-arc so thank you once again for the episodes available for download :) Is the entire series or just the first 20 episodes?

reply

Can't you put these files on the Pirate Bay?

Rapidshare sux unless you want to pay.

reply

Yes yes yes! Thank you! Finally I get my hands on some eps. =) Woo!
I haven't seen this series in so long.

Hey Christian,

Who is the youTube user who you got these films from?

Please email me at [email protected]

Thanks,

The first four episodes of the English version are on Youtube!!!! (Each episode is in two parts). Just search on Youtube or follow the link: http://www.youtube.com/user/indeedidotoo

If anyone is having problems watching Youtube, like I was, just copy this URL

http://www.youtube.com/swf/l.swf?video_id=

and after the equal sign, add the video ID number which is in the video's Youtube URL, after "v="

For example, the first episode (part 1)'s Youtube URL is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFp9osffi7E

Copy the code after v= (ie. hFp9osffi7E) and add it to the first URL, to get http://www.youtube.com/swf/l.swf?video_id=hFp9osffi7E

I know many people have been getting error messages regarding Flash and Javascript, when they are working fine. I had the same problem and this is how I managed to get around it. It's a bit of hassle but at least you get to watch these episodes!

P.S. Thank you, thank you, thank you to the person who uploaded these episodes. You are an absolute legend! I wish I knew how to do it, I have the crucial last two episodes on video

I sent the following e-mail to Madman Entertainment a few days ago...

--------------------
I've been a life-long Tintin fan and I was very pleased that you released 'The Adventures of Tintin' on DVD several years ago. I appreciate the fact that you've been able to bring the animated shows that many of us grew up with to DVD for viewing pleasure. For the past 3 years I've been trying to acquire episodes of a well-known series in Australia called the 'Twins of Destiny' which aired over here two times during 1995. It was produced in 1991 by a French animation company and was first programmed on TF1 (France) and then the ABC (Australia and Italy). I grew up with this series as did many other people who are now my age and over the past few years, fans of the series (many on imdb.com and other message boards) have hoped for a DVD release of the series.

Just like Tintin, I'm sure there is a possibility to release the show just like your many other European-produced animated shows and of course your vast supply of animé. The show has been shown as recently as 2005 over in France on NT1 and has been shown regularly on TF1's Dorothée Club until 2003. Over the years I've seen the increase of animated shows from the 1990's gain enough popularity for DVD releases such as; Pokémon, Tintin, Sailor Moon, Madeline, Gargoyles, Batman:The Animated Series and the Original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. In my personal opinion (and many others) the quality of these shows have stood up over time, and many believe worthy of DVD releases considering how low the standard of many 'mainstream' animated shows has gotten. With that I would like to know a few things...

1) Is it possible to find copies of the series in both French and English, that are available to transfer to DVD?
2) Are Madman able to gain the rights to sell the series?
3) Is it possible for the show to have a potential DVD release in the future?
4) Like with 'Gargoyles,' is it possible for fan appreciation to influence the request for a DVD release?
--------------------

The guy at Madman gave me a personal and prompt reply - it's good that they care about the customers! Here was his response...

--------------------
Wow that was a very passionate email. I'll attempt to answer your questions.

1) Unfortunately the show is not available for us to release and we have no plans to make them available anytime soon
2) If there's enough demand we will always go after a title, but its unlikely at the moment.
3) Very slim potential at the moment.
4) Its always possible but there needs to be more than enough to be justified due to the costs involved in licensing, and production and distribution of a show.
--------------------

Madman are a very good company. They've licenced quite a number of rare/recent DVDs such as 'Dr. Plonk' and plenty of anime. I'd say that between this forum and those that have commented on youtube, we could try and get a list (I don't like the word petition) of people that would be interested in buying a box-set of the series. It'd be interesting to see the amount of people that express interest.

reply

I also emailed Madman a few weeks ago, with pretty much the same response. I also like the idea of getting a list together - a couple of days ago a friend and I made a facebook group for people to join if they want the show to be released on DVD. If you're on facebook, here's the group: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=11064827487
