Not as good, as the game.

I hate to use the 'true fan' ideal. However I truly believe, while the story tell was excellent, the show itself wasn't.
People who have watched the anime, before playing the games. Probabaly will not, agree with me.

This is not to say, the anime was bad. I just felt, it destroyed so many good aspects, from the game.

Pros of the show
-Scripted very well (although, it was quite a departure from the game).
-Good pacing
-Decent voice actors, in both the Japanese (JPN version, had the games VAs) and American versions.
-Consistent, and maintains it's level of maturity.

Cons of the show
-The team retconned (needlessly), too many of the staples. Made throughout the game.
-The animation, was nothing more than ok (may have been, a budget issue).
-The soundtrack was pretty bad (especially in comparison, to the game). I liked that the team, used one of the main songs from the game.
However, this makes me wonder. Why they didn't just use, the games soundtrack anyway?
-Failed to retain, nearly any of the art style. Used throughout the game.

I did thoroughly enjoy it. But as a fan of the orginal (which I played constantly, throughout 2002-2003).
I couldn't help, but feel a little dissapointed.

I played the games and seen the show. I loved the show much much more than than the games. The soundtrack to the game was awful in my opinion was awful. It wasn't catchy and had this beebop 50's sound which was just weird and seemed out of place. The shows music was odd too I admit, but I appreciated it alot. It always fit the mood and the guitar especially was amazing, such as the theme played when Brandon died along with Blue or Blue and several other tracks. The shows story also was better. There's a million stories of revenge and how the person goes through hell to get it...but Gungrave the show was more than that, it showed that there's bigger and more important things than just an ideal of getting back, it showed love, friendship, betrayal, and progression, something many things lack. The game was fun, but it was fluff to me. I just felt like it was a second rate game with bad music, and s story about a man who was badass and was taking names. That's my take on it anyway.

Not as good as the game? What.
Hell, the Anime had better gameplay and it wasn't even a game.
