So did Herzog never reveal that cave mystery?

****spoilers***************

They filmed it, but out of respect for the community there, he never shwoed what was inside. But has he at least said something in an interview what he saw?

I'm sure its not some mythical land of gold. Probably a simple ecological answer to it. Just a quiet nesting place for those hundreds of birds.

I've done some poking around and haven't come across anything.
Somewhat cynically, I could only imagine how much bird crap would be in there :)

dead post, but.

They spoke in german, Herzog and the climber. Is that the interview you are talking about? because he never translated what they said.

reply

I'm belgian and understand a little german, as far as I understood they weren't talking about the cave ...

Respect for the nature. For the native's mythology. What he decided about filming the cave tells us how Herzog is. Really a master.

reply

BS. If he wasn't going to show us the cave then he shouldn't have mentioned it at all. "Oh, we've got amazing never-before-seen footage, but we're gonna keep it to ourselves." Either don't say anything, or show the footage. What Herzog did was pretty childish, really.

Agreed. He does this kind of crap far to often in his documentaries. Gives you a build up to something special than says screw you it's only for me. Then gives you a documentary where you really didn't see much. You were promised a lot , but delivered little. Kind of reminds me of a prom date I ... well for another time and place on that one. He does a similar thing in my opinion in Grizzly Man when he sits and gets us the build up of the mauling happening and audio existing and then we just get to hear him listen to it and not us. He has the ability to be a damn fine documentary film maker , but this carnival sideshow act of promising and building up to things and not delivering. Well that is something I would expect , and have seen (hello capone's vaults) from Geraldo Rivera.

Maybe not showing the place is even more interesting than the place itself
