Can you flesh out your reaction more thoroughly, please? (If you're ever this way again, that is!).

I'm interested because this film is showing tomorrow night at UW-Milwaukee's LGBT Film Fest. Often it seems that LGBT people rate a movie highly because they're just glad to be watching lesbians and gays on the screen.... so they give nearly every LGBT-themed movie a two-thumbs up.

However what about .... um... quality....believability .... etc etc? I'm not a film student or anything, but I've watched plenty of films and my standards are fairly high. I've often read all these glowing reviews, decide to see the film, and have been disappointed!

It is funny that you say that gays and lesbians may rate a film highly just because they are so happy to see lesbians and gays being portrayed on screen. As a brown person, I am thrilled to see other brown people on screen even if the film isn't all that good and would be inclined to rate the film more highly just because of the presence of browns. LOL!

I don't think it's solely because they're there. But it's the movies resonate more personally to us a LGBT or asian viewers. So we see a deeper meaning in it than a straight or non-asian person might. That is what happens when people watch any movie, your own experiences will determine how a movie effects you.

What you say makes no sense. If a movie is crap its crap it doesn't become more great because you have experienced the things that is portrayed. If your talking about the script now that's different but the execution is what makes a movie grate or not. Nina's Heavenly delight was a nice movie but it wasn't great solely because the execution was poor. I wanted to see the two love interest develop so i could feel their chemistry but that didn't happen.

I don't think the movie was crap. If you did, so what. That's not my opinion or others opinions. Everyone is allowed to like different things for whatever reason.

You did see the relationship develop through numerous scenes. And the chemistry was there to be seen IMO.

Brown person? If Shelley Conn is typical I say let's have a lot more brown persons on screen! I'm a English chap of later years and I suggest that Eurasian females are the most beautiful in the world.

I have to agree. I saw the synopsis and thought it might be really interesting, but the quality of the acting and the writing were just so bad that I found it very hard to make it the end. It's one of those films you watch and you just think, was this the best they could do? Did these people get paid for this? and, I should make a film, it couldn't be any worse than this.
Few nuce shots of Glasgow though, great city.

I disagree,it is watchable.Nobody is saying it's a masterpiece,but it does what a rom com should-it entertains and leaves U smiling.

To each their own. I found this a delightful rom-com. Its great to see a film with a positive image of lesbians and gays. No angst, no parents screaming how could you do this to me? Its the kind of movie I'd like to see more of.

Agreed, it was a nice sweet rom-com. I don't know why people seem to think every single LGBT film has to be an angst ridden drama.

Oh for the day when people think 'Rom-com' and not GAY FILM!!!!

Well, I do not know whether my reason for switching off were the same as yours, but this is one of the very few movies which I decided was not worth my time (gave up after less than half an hour). The acting was overall painfully amateurish, the script was laughable and the characters well, were just characters. So bad it was just bad.

talk to your doc, u have some serious stomach desease...i watched the whole movie, it's not a great movie, but:
1. it's lesbian movie,
2. thank god, nobody dies,
3. it's cheerfull, fullish, just like other romantic comedies

I'll agree with you it wasn't that good. I enjoyed movies like Saving Face, D.E.B.S., and Imagine Me and You a whole heck of a lot more.

Yes, it was a pleasant, light-hearted rom-com, and had a lot of nice touches. The acting was pretty good, I liked the snatches of cheesy local radio, and I do hope Mrs. Khan's pussy made it back from Dundee safe and sound.

My only complaint, really, is the end. The "message" had been that you had to follow your heart (i.e. decide what was really important). So Nina did, and I'm glad the gal got her gal. Winning the competition as well, though? That just made it all a little bit too saccharine for me.

In fact, I was anticipating that Nina would be unable to cook anything worthy of the competition until she declared her love for Lisa openly, which she would do as the clock was ticking, on live TV.

This is one of the worst things I've seen in many years. It has nothing to do with the lesbian plot. It is the acting, the writing, the plain cliche boring characters, the ending that is predictable from the firts 10 minutes. Please, LGBT folks can do much better.

Just watched it. I'm a straight 60 something English guy with a serious love of great movies - American, French,Swedish, English, German and Japanese from the silent days right up until today. I thought this was a sweet little movie, with a decent message and a likeable cast + it made me hungry. Not every film has to be a masterpiece. It was fun and didn't need to be more than that.
