Best kill ever!!!!! *spoiler*

If you haven't watched this movie, then don't read any further. This is the biggest part of the whole movie. This part alone makes it worth watching, so don't ruin it for yourself.

So Nikolai dispatches Sasha in the best and most extreme revenge kill in movie making history.

Nikolai is armed with a double barrel shotgun with both barrels loaded. He uses one shot to disarm Sasha, then he reloads one barrel to bring him back up to a full 2 barrels. Sasha is crawling backwards on the ground pleading. Nikolai walks up to Sasha, puts both barrels to his chin, and brain splatter everywhere.

He reloaded one barrel to make sure that he could get him point blank with 2. Now that's FREAKING AEWSOME!! Acting and plot goes second to a kick ass ending. End of story!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sasha wasn't pleading for his life. He was just apprehensive about his fate and crawling to get away in a vain effort to preserve himself. Nikolai looked like he was considering sparring him for a moment as he paused for several seconds before firing, but it's possible that he was just doing it to make Sasha think about it.

The explosion was pretty cool, but I think the best part of the scene was the underwater shot of the small trace of blood floating with Nikolai's face in the background. It really captured the emotion of the moment. Seeing this film, I can't help but think Lundgren had somewhat of a raw deal when it came to his movie career. He's too old to turn things around about become a big star now, but the film really showed that he had some potential if he had simply been placed in a movie with a good script.

You bring up an interesting point regarding Lundgren's age. I think guys like Lundgren, Stallone, and Van Damme are doing some terrific work these days. With the exception of perhaps Stallone, your right in that they aren't likely to produce any blockbusters, but their careers are not suffering. Dolph is fast earning a reputation as a competent director, don't care what anybody says, Russian Specialist and his previous The Defender were excellent straight to dvd films. Though not nearly as polished, I also liked the micro budget Missionary Man and Diamond Dogs. Van Damme has turned into an actual dramatic actor in some nice projects, even prior to the great reviews he recieved for JCVD, the film Wake of Death featured a good performance and Until Death was one of my favorite action films in the past year, this considering I never cared for his films when he was in his prime. On top of that these guys have not let themselves go, I wish I was in that kind of shape! I would liken it somewhat to Charles Bronson's ability to do films like Hard Times at (I believe)age 56.

Yeah, you definitely have to give them credit for keeping fit after all of this time.
