At the beginning of the movie there is a girl that hangs herself. I assumed she was the friend that died, but then watching it over I realized that their friend that died was a male and the funeral takes place a year after the girl hangs herself. So was the girl at the beginning inflicted with the curse and it got so out of hand that she "layed herself to rest" before the ghost could?
I am confused, please help.

I'm not sure, but I don't think she hanged herself. She was tossed about in the hallway and pushed toward the banister, but then it looks like she willingly went over it the rail. As for the relevance of the scene to the movie, not a clue but the scene was pretty cool, as was the scene with the chic floating across the floor dragging her feet behind her. As for the rest of the movie, complete trash!
I personally don't "watch" anything on SciFi, I merely look at it. Looking at it has it's entertaining moments but watching it will only lead to a major loss of IQ points. In other words, SciFi should be viewed with your eyes only, not your brain!

Alright, that is confusing me too. I just watched it, and it's clearly not the college friend because you can see in the photo of them, the missing person is a guy. So who is the girl who gets hanged? It must be related to the caretaker's previous notes, however would be nice to have something more specific.
