I am so happy with the ending (spoiler)

I really thought that the annoying Jesse would somehow get through to her, convert her or kill her. I am so happy Christina got him instead. Despite not seeing another series, I like how it ended, as we might never know what happens next. I just wish she'd finished off Judy aswell...

I don't like it as a series ender, I choose to view it as a season cliffhanger with lots left to the story.

It WAS the series finale, though. The show was called "Point Pleasant". It was stated several times throughout the series that the "final battle" would occur there.

I am glad she "won" but like prydain stated it left it was a cliffhanger, they should have just had her burn down point pleasant.

Point Pleasant, itself, was over. There was more to the story, yes, but only as a spinoff with Christina embracing her destiny as the Daughter of the Devil and The Kramers tracking her down to kill her once and for all. It would have been a completely different series, though.

I would have loved to see the continuation of the series. Judy wanted her dead but her mom wanted to save her. They almost did before stupid Jesse stabbed her.

And that is SOLELY because when FOX pulled the plug they hadn't finished filming the season. I believe they were prepping episode eleven at the time. I remember an interview with Aubrey Dollar where she said they were able to film all thirteen because of the DVD release and overseas markets. I'm not sure if any changes were made to episode eleven but the plans for episodes 12 and 13 were scrapped and they were written to bring a small sense of closure. That is why those episodes feel so rushed.

Had they filmed the whole season before it aired (the reason they didn't is because FOX originally passed on the pilot and then picked it up several months later after Marti wrote episode 2) the season would have ended much differently. And even Marti said they left plenty of threads open in case the show continued in another form...also I believe she said the original plan was for Christina to become evil at the end of the season and season two would have had her on the "dark side" for a while... but not for good...so, say, had it become a comic or something, everything surely would have come back to Point Pleasant. We don't even know if Christina was planning to leave PP forever. After all the only thing we saw her destroy was the Kramers house...the rest of the town felt the ground shaking but the church was perfectly fine.

Basically the beautiful thing about it is that you can see the finale however you want, since the story wasn't continued on TV or elsewhere...but the way I view it things were just getting started as opposed to being over.

And I am willing to bet all the money I don't have that had the show ended on its own terms

Yes, the last few episodes were probably rewritten to bring a sense of closure to the story but if you look at the final episode and listen to things that were said earlier in the season, there's no way that there could have been a season 2 with THOSE episodes leading into it. Christina destroyed The Kramer's house and the rest of the town was in the middle of an earthquake. Back in the church Anne (Christina's mother) asks what's going on and the guy Graham says "We've failed." Just because we didn't see it happen doesn't mean the church WASN'T actually destroyed killing everyone inside. Boyd also tells Christina "We've won" and Christina says "No, I'VE won." The final battle was between Christina (The Antichrist) and Jesse (The reincarnation of Christ). For all intents and purposes, Point Pleasant WAS over. Had they been able to stay on longer it would have probably ended with Jesse killing Christina but I liked that this show had a twist where evil won instead.

Meg's last line to Judy: "It's not over yet. We're still alive" (or something to that effect). I could see if the series had continued that the Kramers would catch up with Christina at some point and make a difference somehow. I also think they would have brought back Terry's dad at some point because his character was pointless if his whole purpose was to deliver a message to Jesse that Jesse completely ignored.

Evil didn't technically win but that is what the show was getting at.
