Minor, but annoying point.....the bra...

Showed the woman twice wearing her bra to bed. lol...yes, this is being nitpicking, but it's details like this that help destroy a movie. What woman wears just a bra to bed?? Give me a break. If you don't want to show any boobs, then have her wear a tight tank top or something...but a bra?

reply

hhaha agreed! it was annoying.

reply

I highly doubt A BRA would "destroy" a movie. A bad plot, horrible acting, bad directing...those destroy movies. Minor warddrobe choices rarely do.

reply

lol, I didn't say the BRA would destroy a movie. I was saying that the culmination of pathetic, inaccurate and not true-to-life details like this can "help" to ruin a movie. Yes, this was a distracting point. I've seen it used in several movies, that's why I made the comment. It's used to show some skin, but not too much...just like a sex scene where the woman has a blanket wrapped around her when she is having sex...get real. There ARE other ways to make a scene like that work without delving into the realm of silliness.

reply

Well, I thought this was a pretty good movie even if it did "show her wearing her bra to bed" which I didn't really think anything of it, I do it all the time and I know plenty of other women who wear their bras to bed as well.

reply

I've never heard a woman say a bra is comfortable. I've heard many many say it is quite uncomfortable and they want to rip it off as soon as they can each day. Why would you wear a bra to bed? Is it comfortable? Do you need the support? The woman in the movie didn't. I highly doubt you know "plenty" of women who do. I've never seen or heard of anyone wearing one to bed. I'm sure there are a few exceptions, but seriously...that would be like me wearing a cup and jock strap to bed for the hell of it.

reply

I wear a bra to bed....

reply

why? is it more comfortable? support?

reply

Well, are you a woman? Who are you to say that people cant wear bras to bed? Some people just feel like it, maybe it’s a habit or something, doesn’t mean it has to have any reason behind it. Its like asking stupid questions like why do women get pregnant, or why do people breath. So what if she wears a bra to sleep, maybe she just feels like it, doesn’t always have to have a reason behind it, like I wear my hair up when I got to bed, I know lots of people don’t, but theres no reason behind why I wear it up, I just feel like it, I don’t need support on my hair, its just something I do, simple as that.

They don't have to have a reason? Sounds like a mental problem...seriously. Who would just wear a wire around their body to bed without any reason? If they want to say it's comfy, so be it...I'll accept that even though it's hard to believe...if as you say, some people just do it for no reason...lol...thanks for the laugh

reply

Now granted I didn't pay huge amount to the bra, but it might not have been an underwire one. Yes, there are bras without wire!

reply

HAHAHA this is so funny. You pple actually talking about bra's :) srry its just funny. I personally dont like it. apparently it gives u some problems on your b00bs and blah blah . Well I just looked at this movie coz of Josh holloway (LOL) but its funny posts about bra's

Not all bras have underwire and they can be comfortable. I usually sleep in my bra when I'm too hot to wear a shirt, but don't want to sleep naked. Very comfortable.

I agree with you there, its just a personal habit/trait thing.
Itt surprises me that this thread is the most active!

my clothes don't match,my clothes don't match,i'm out in public and my clothes don't match

reply

No way are they comfortable, but I have slept in one because it was incredibly cold (long story), also there was a time when ladies were told that sleeping in a bra would 1 - keep gravity at bay and 2 - it would alleviate back pain (that part could be true if there was no underwire poking you) which may be why some women do feel more comfortable sleeping with a bra on. Again, I myself do find them a pain to sleep in but that doesn't mean that everyone else feels the same way.

reply

lmao....wearing a bra to stay warm. That's a new one. That just sounded really funny to me. Thanks!

reply

In college there were several women on my floor who wore bras to bed.

reply

I haven't actually seen the movie yet, but i just gotta say:
WEAR A BRA TO BED ???????????? WHY ????????????
They are the most excuciatingly uncomfortable garments, clearly created by a sadist, designed to incapacitate women totally, by depriving of them of breath!
SO, WHY WEAR ONE TO BED ?????? Are you scared your b**** will escape?
The ONLY reason for wearing one in bed, would be because you've just had a baby, and i shall go no further with THAT line of discussion, coz i don't wish to upset anyone. Or, you're so unattractive that you have to wear a colourful and attractive bra to bed in order to encourage your 'mate'?
So which is it?

reply

Exactly. The ones who say they do won't answer WHY. No one wears a bra to bed unless something else is going on like they need some serious support or they have pain. The girl in the movie is very trim and obviously isn't having this problem. It's just another example of sloppy directing and not demanding perfection.

reply

I used to wear a bra to bed, I was told once by an elder member of my extended family that the reason why her boobs were still quite "perky" at her age *in her 50's* was because she always wore a bra, even to bed. She thought that the extra support helped to keep things up instead of drooping down. So because I was extremely blessed in the chest department, I thought that it might be a good thing to do. But after two kids and them growing another 4 cup sizes, if they are gonna sag, then theyre gonna sag. So I gave up on the bra to bed deal.

reply

Excuse me, the woman's name is Sarah Wayne Callies, for the extra info...

Hm, bra, well i don't like to wear bra to bed, it's a bit uncomfy... and study shows this could result to breast cancer... But dude, for the record, bras are made to protect the woman's breast... Because, when she jumps with no bra, her 'you know' also bounces, and it's more uncomfy than wearing bra to bed. Whenever I dance and i'm just at the house, i'll would really wear my bra because i hate dancing fast dances with no bra... Ouch! And it's not to encourage our 'mate', gosh i beg to differ! how dare you call us unattractive! try to be woman if you really don't agree with me! So in this point, i somehow agree with your first line on 'wearing bras to bed' but i do disagree with you're insult to us in 'afraid your boobs will escape'? Annoying...! Or do you just want to see a REAL and LIVE breast on a movie?

reply

I've heard of women wearing bras to bed.

And I hadn't noticed that anyways.

reply

have you noticed that when she woke up in the middle of night she is without...
Many times I go to bed wearing bra but it doesn't mean I sleep in it ;)
its the easiest thing to take off quickly.

reply

I hadn't noticed she was. Not that I think that it matters. I've noticed it in Sex and the City though. Didn't bother me then.

What is making me wonder is the women who find bras uncomfortable. They're not meant to be uncomfortable. And i think if they are, then they're the wrong size.

reply

I have never known a girl to wear a bra to bed, no girlfriend I have ever had has worn a bra to bed, plus when I lived in shared houses at uni, the girls living there would come down for breakfast in pyjamas or shorts and t-shirt, and none of them would have a bra underneath.

I agree that things like this do get a bit annoying, its like when women keep their bras on during sex scenes, ok this is more annoying, and maybe its just me but I always take a girls bra off in that situation.

Its also annoying in films when a woman covers her breasts from her husband or lover after sex or when they are just lying in bed, why would they be shy in front of them !

If a film cant show skin for whatever reason, be it ratings or because the actress just wont or whatever, they should go about things in a different manner, cut the scene or use different camera angles, I am sure there must be some way.

Appart from the bra thing, the same should apply to men too, it really is annoying, not just about seeing some boobs, there are plenty of films that do show them if thats all you want !

reply

it doesn't meant to be a porno film.

yea in the series sex and the city, carrie many times went to bed wearing bra...
it wasnt strange to me at all. it's just a movie...

reply

Yeah, you nailed the problem there....

"it doesn't meant to be a porno film."

Thats the American attitude of nudity=sex right there, we are not discussing whether the nudity should be there to titilate, we are discussing whether the nudity should be there for realism.

reply

I wear a bra to bed. I like my boobs and don't want gravity getting a hold of them while I sleep. I only occasionally sleep without it.

I know. It's obsessive but I like them right where they are. lol

reply

Didn't you know? It's the new trend in America to have sex while fully clothed and for women to sleep in a bra. I've seen it in the movies so it must be true.

2 of my roomates in college wore bras to bed. They insisted that wearing it kept their boobs from sagging. But you know what? They were flat-chested! it didn't make any sense.

reply

It's a phenomenon. From this thread, I think if there are women wearing bras to bed, they don't even know why they are wearing them to bed or they have some silly notion it will save the sag.

reply

Yes, there are women wearing bras to bed, yes, there are many more women that don't wear bras to bed. Most girls I know of that wear their bras to bed (granted its now looks like that might be bad, due to it supposibly blocking tissues in the breast it can increase chances of breast cancer if you constantly wear a bra).

Its something thats not as common but just from the fact that ONE girl can do it kinda makes it silly to say that it destroys the movie.

reply

My wife wears a bra to bed...which is also an annoying thing

One thing the op seems to have missed:

SHE WAS GOING TO BED WITH SAWYER!!! I sure as hell would be wearing some sexy undergarments to bed too.... jeez. You can't complain about how women act if you cant think like one.

reply

What a strange subject, this bra wearing in bed.
I must admit it does add a kind of unreal element to the film.
Didn't know that so many women wore one to bed either! How strange!

reply

Yes, they should have made it more realistic and not had her wear a bra to bed... because - God knows - every movie is just sooo realistic... :)

reply

When a story is attempting to portray a "realistic" event like sleeping in movie, but can't even get that right, then it's fair to make a point of their failure. But hey, if you are happy watching garbage, there is unlimited amounts of it these days ;)

ozz

reply

Oh please end it and say that you just wanted to see her naked.
This move is not realistic, it doest meant to be a realistic (thik about the subject) and the bra have nothin to do with it.
So think what you write.

reply

For me, it had nothing to do with seeing her naked. I think the scene would have been great if she was wearing a nightshirt, something sexy and maybe slightly revealing, but not nude.....or nude. Either way would have been more realistic. The point is the movie makers didn't want to put nudity in the film and that's fine, but don't mask the nudity with unrealistic nonsense. It doesn't matter if the subject matter was unrealistic or not....that doesn't mean every detail should be unrealistic too. Obviously, film makers try to make small details like this as true to life as possible...or at least good film makers do.

After reading the posts here I went and found a informal survey at the following web page:

http://teamsugar.com/node/197325/results

40% - no bra
22% - sometimes
28% - always

apparently a study shows that wearing a bra to bed may increase the chances of getting breast cancer.

reply

wow...great survey and shocking results. Apparantly quite a few wear them cause it's more comfortable due to the added support which seems reasonable, but the girl in this movie didn't have a whole lot to support, so still pretty lame, but the survey is geat. thanks!

[deleted]

I dont know why this is so surprising. If even one woman does it in real life then why cant this woman do it in a movie? It isn't unrealistic if some women do it. I just dont understand what the big fuss is about.

Obviously it was done to avoid nudity in the movie but if you look at it from a character standpoint it doesnt have to be that this small breasted woman is doing it for support, but rather that it was a taught behavior. I think most women who wear bras to bed in real life do so because their mother or some other female influence in their life convinced them that it was better to sleep wearing one.

I noticed it when she first did it but it didnt leave me thinking about it for long. There is a wide variety of things that people do in real life, and even if they are in the minority, it doesn't make it impossible to believe.
