Alternate Ending. Possible spoilers

I thought the alternate ending made more sense and felt like it fit into the mold of the movie better then the ending that was put on. I felt the ending on the movie felt very forced and un real that it'd be that easy to defeat the thing. Thoughts?

yeah, i thought the alternate ending was way better.

so what was alternate ending???

***SPOILERS***

I didn't get to see the alternate ending but whatever it was I'm sure it was better than the lame ass ending that I saw. I mean; the kid seems to know what's going to happen before it does and he can control people with his 'wisperings' and he seemed to be able to appear and disappear at will so you'd think he'd have seen the axe coming at him and get out of the way.

Now, how's he going to be in a sequel?? Hmmmm??

Hell is other people

***SPOILERS*** ALTERNATE ENDING***

The alternate ending has Josh Holloway being mauled and killed by the Wolfs and the kid gets picked up and taken away by the cops to safety. Which makes more sense then him not being able to dodge the axe and die.

so umm...both of them die??
Josh H and SWC??

Oh, on my german rental DVD was no alternate ending 8O So thanx for the explanation!

Hm, I found it also unconvincing that this 'super-boy' was not able dodge the axe :(

But I liked the idea, that Max was the winner ;)

I was satisfied with the given ending. Sure, the kid was all knowing, but I guess he was too busy enjoying the wolves attacking Max to notice the ax headed his way. He got too cocky.

reply

while the alternate ending makes more sense, it feels too cliche. It'd be too much like the Omen, you know?

this movie was okay.

reply

i enjoyed the original ending too. i wanted that little demon brat DEAD. i was expecting an OMEN type ending, but thank god is wasn't.

I liked the original ending, too, at least the one that was shown on TV.

I'm glad they killed the devil boy off in the original ending. I've seen to many movies when the evil child gets saved and the hero dies.

reply

Me too - I like the ending where Max is/was the winner - that kid was a demon and/or possessed by a demon. Hell even the mum wanted the kid DEAD!

I think the alternate ending made a lot more sense, considering all the powers the kid had. The fact that the kid could control the wolves, and the police had trace the last phone call, so they knew where to find the kidnappers and the kid. So it would have been a much more believable ending if the kid got away at the end. Plus it would have left it open for a sequel .

Frankly, I like the ending. Why? If you look at most in the "evil child" genre films, everyone dies, and of course, the child always lives at the end, which makes it sooooo predictable. To be very honest, given the child's drawings on the wall, I thought all were going to bite the dust. It was rather refreshing seeing a handsome male live at the end. True it may not have been the most creative ending but certainly a change from the usual predicts. Besides who would want to see something so beautiful as Josh Holloway being mutilated by those awful wolves or dogs...whatever the hell they were.

My assumption is that David either allowed events to take place as they did or perhaps even manipulated them to take the course they did. He obviously expected (or at least was aware of) the outcome as his "psychic mural of future events" clearly showed everyone except Max blacked out. Had David expected Max to die, he would have at least partially blacked him out as he did with Vince when his demise was imminent. The question would be why would David want things to end as they did or did he simply have no choice in the matter?

He blacks them out AFTER they are dead...therefore, didn't black Max out yet. The drawing changes over time. He blacked out each person as they died. SO glad he bought the big one, he was such a little meanie and I so wanted Max to win, which he did!! YAY SAWYER, I mean, Max!!

I would have to pull out the DVD and watch it again to be 100% sure but I am 99% sure he blacked them out before they died. But yeah, I was pulling for Sawy... er... Max, too.

me three. The alternate ending was far more creepy ^_^

Maybe the "host body" of the demon dies, but then he is able to go into a new body. So he could be "reborn" over and over again.
