Why 5.7???

I noticed that the rating from non-US people is 7.5. I wonder why people in the United States don't like this beautiful film.

because most of the americans are dumbs and lazy, they just like simple and easy things... for example, enter into the teather, watch some crappy movie, easy laughs/screams/tears, came out of it... and that's all.
they just dont go for more. Se Arrienda is such a fragile movie, beautiful, touchfull... it's a film u WILL remember for the rest of ur life, in my case at least. it would changes the course of ur living, in my case again....

i dunno... but i LOVE this movie... and i love every single Fuguet's books

Hey, before you make assumptions such as yours... think about what you are saying. Movies like Garden State and Lost in Translation are very similar to Se Arrienda. I'm an American that saw it while I was studying abroad, and I absolutley loved the movie. Just because there are people out there who don't like movies that are overly deep does not make someone stupid. You calling them stupid is an ignorant statement, and you don't understand their feelings.

I'm on the other side. I was born and raised in Chile, in the early 80's. I've read Fuguet in school because it was part of the education program.
I don't like the movie, because it's pretentious, it tries too hard and it didn't make it. I KNOW the real life here in Chile, I cannot feel related with the right-wing wealthy kids, and I'm not alone in this. New York and it didn't work? And you're upset about that? You have to come back to this third-world country to work in daddy's business? Try to imagine not even having a dad to support you, and to be forced to work as waitress or fast-food cashier to be able to pay for University, because at that time scholarships didn't covered the whole career, unless you were a genius.
This movie is made for the ABC1 chileans and some foreign viewers.

Please excuse my terrible redaction, english is not my native language.

Hey...I'm from the US, and I loved this movie. I'm going through a similar thing right now, having just graduated from college. The only reason I saw Se arrienda was because my sister bought it while she was studying in Chile and brought it back. I don't know if Se arrienda made it over here in a big way or not, because I hadn't heard of it before, but she said it was a big hit in Chile and I can see why. I really want the BSO, does anyone know an internet site where I could get it? The music was a really great part of the film.
