The rating in Japan

Someone in the message board once said that the movie had a 13+ rating due to strong violence. What exactly happened in the original Japanese version to make it get such a rating?

reply

Probably some deaths of humans as far as I'm concerned.
If the Japanese version is out, I can't wait to get it!

It gets pretty rough when Deoxys and Rayquaza are fighting. I havn't seen the version released out of Japan, but here Deoxys takes a pretty violent beating.
Actually, I thought there was a fair amount of unnecessary violence in the film.
Didn't see any Humans being killed, but possible as there was a fair amount of destruction in the start of the film.

They had to cut out some sci-fi violence out of the American version that isn't appropriate for kids. I'd love to see the Japanese version, PG-12!

reply

Actually they just edited the stuff out for the initial broadcast version in th US and other English versions. The entire thing is shown if you have the DVD. Check wikipedia if you don't believe me...

reply

Actually, Wikipedia said that it was edited for time to air on KidsWb. But it was edited for content for the American release. Which means that even on the DVD, it was edited for violence.

reply

But you gotta remember, Wikipedia can be edited by anyone. So that may not be entirely true. So I dunno as I only saw it when it was on KidsWB.

Not just Wikipedia. Bulbapedia too, and u have to be a member 2 edit that.

The JP version may also have some slightly strong language that otherwise wouldn't have a place in Pokemon (outside fan fiction). That's my theory.

Good advice

I may be wrong, but I think there's more destruction during the battle scenes in the japanese version, I'll have to check out both versions soon to see if there are any differences, if so then they're minor.
