This movie is a load of crap!!!

I can't believe that there are so many positive comments about this film, some time i just wonder if we talking about the same film. I'm just glad I did not pay a cent to watch this crap!! Whats with all this fuzzy cute movies in HK these days, what the hell happen to the kickass films of the 80s and 90s!!! How in hell did the loser Stephen Fung get a directing gig anyway all he do is copy from other movies, and if his such a great director he should really do a better casting job, or better yet don't hire himself next time!!! And you really know something wrong in a kung fu film when a white kid in the movie has more kung fu skills then a cast full of Asian adults!!!

reply

way to go all critical on a good movie. the hk film industry is dying as it is, and more or less i welcome a good popcorn flick like this. funny thing is, jake strickland being an actual martial artist and none of the heroes actually practicing kung fu, i could easily see why he's more talented. the only exception would be daniel wu and he doesn't get too many fight scenes. regardless yuen wo ping did a great job on this movie, and doesn't that sound a little stereotypical by saying all asian adults should be kung fu masters? disregard this post above, and see this movie, it's not going to rival seven swords but it's a good solid effort from hong kong, who really needs everyone's support right now considering the state of the film industry there nowadays!

reply

"doesn't that sound a little stereotypical by saying all asian adults should be kung fu masters?"

If they don't want to be sterotype then don't do a kung fu movie!!! And what the hell is wrong with being a kung fu master anyway?? Kung Fu is part of the chinese culture and I'm for one is proud of it and it is what HK films was known for, well used to anyway. Back in the old days all action stars are trained martial artist or ex-stuntmen, now any pretty boy can be a kung fu master. And why the hell are you telling people to disregard my post? This is my opinion of the film, I am entile to my opinions as much as you and I'm not telling people not to watch this movie, I'm sure people can make up their mind weather to watch this movie or not without you telling them. And why the hell should everyone support the HK film industry right now just because it is doing bad??!! You mean we should all pay money to watch all the plotless crap they are making these days just so they can make more of it?? Its in the state its in because its been making stupid films which nobody want to watch, I will support it when it starts making some decent films!!

reply

dngth, you did not understand the quote,

"doesn't that sound a little stereotypical by saying all asian adults should be kung fu masters?"

All he was saying is that just because they are asian doesn't make them kung fu masters. A white guy is just as capable of being a kung fu master as an asian guy, so why is it bad if the white guy appears to be more of a master than the asians.

I enjoyed the film and definitely would recommend people to watch it.

reply

I just watch it today and I like it! It's cute movie hahaha

Though They don't have a strong story line but the actors n actresses made this movie look even better! the story line is just like other chinese movies but it's cute!!!

Dont forget the guys, they are cute lol.. Love the movie in the end especially the value of family and friendship that their father put!!!! ^0^ Btw That White Boy Is totally cool lol but i love it when he got spanked! nottie one hehe!

WHAT THE???
If I'm not wrong this movie suppose to be a comedy/kung fu film, most of the main characters(mainly the asian adults) are kung fu experts in the movie. What I'm saying is that the white boy is the only one who actually looks like he knows martial arts and all the asian main characters just look sloppy, when they are portraying kung fu experts. Whats all this crap about just because they are asian doesn't make them kung fu master, when they are suppose to be portraying kung fu master in the movie, if they don't look like kung fu master then they did a S*H*I*T job!!!! Did you even watch the movie or are you just here defending it coz the TWINS are in it!!!???

reply

yeah, it was a lot less than i expected...
in the preview, i think it shows stephen fung working a wooden dummy, so it should suggest some amount of wing chun featured...but in the movie it doesnt appear anywhere. did i miss something? it is pretty ridiculous to have anthony wong whupped by that little kid.

reply

no it's not, Anthony Fong was getting old therefore his skills in martial arts decreased. The boy obviously younger and stronger took advantage of Anthony Fong's weak martial art skills.

also Anthony Fong hardly knew anything about martial arts before this movie came out.

This movie is great, I can't understand why you don't like it as it is (of course, this is not an oscar winner, it's a enterteining movie!)
As I know, none of the main characters are kung-fu experts, but they all fake it very well. I enjoyed it very much, a lot of fun.
Stephen Fung is a very cool director.

NO, NO, NOPE, NO, NO with a double helping of NOPE!

This film is most excellent...I've had enough of slow Korean and Japanese flicks to last a lifetime...all hope in finding a fun and kick ass Asian film was deserting me...Thankfully I managed to pick up a cheap copy of this film to restore my faith! Not only that it came with a bunch of random goodies in the box including a keyring, poster and mini pop-ups...

All I need now is for the dudes in tinseltown to recognise this film and remake it [rather than OLDBOY and JSA - yawn] hopefully with some young popstar-cum-actress in a lead role if Ms Lohan or Ms Duff are free [seeing that there is the music subplot there could be the chance to belt out a hit or three]?

Anyway this film is 92 times better than GEN X COPS II [Gen Y Cops]...a must see!

i saw this movie and it's a GOOD FAMILY movie, definately fun to watch for kids escpecially if they like to see some interesting wuxia martial arts.

The action is not as good because the actors are not actual Kung-Fu masters, but having said that, they did a pretty good job in doing it. I disagree that this movie is better then gen-x or gen-y. i found those movies more to my liking because it was more teenagerlike. The Problem with this movie is that it doesn't do a good job in doing anything new, but it does a good job in what it brings. Which is a happy fun chinese family action movie. Anyways do the guy who didn't like it, i think you are thinking too hard about the movie and also having said that. You saying that the white guy was the only one who can fight is a racist comment. Not everybody in China knows how to fight. They Chose the movie for the actors and not the fighting.

Are you 7 years old?

reply

you also forgot to mention that the 80's and 90's chinese movie age some of the worst movie selections ever out, the HK movie industry made tons and tons of movies and spurt out movies that had the mentality of a 10 year old kid.

Stephen Fung got a directing gig because it's his OWN production.

So whats wrong with hiring himself? Stephen Chow always does that and he does a great job. There is nothing wrong when a Kung Fu film has a white kid that is better then everybody else.

I really liked this movie, definately one of my favs of 2005, this had everything a nice action movie has a thin plot, good action scenes, hot babes and nice touches of hmour here and there. I thought it made a chnage from all the dramas and such I have been watching lately, don't get me wrong I'm fan of asian dramas but it just comes to a point where it's all too much and I need to see some serious a$$ whoopiing and this movie defyed my expectations.

I'm a Stephen Fung fan, have been since I saw 2002 for the first time and I like very movie he's done, yes even Sunshine Cops and Cheap Killers. Anthony Wong is one of my fav HK actors and Gillian Chung is one hot little number if I do say so myself. Micheal Wong's acting seems to have worsened over the years instead of getting better, his scenes where so painful to watch. As for the white guy, by guy you mean kid and by kid you mean Jake Strickland who has some of the most insane staff skills I have ever seen, the kid is a horrible actor but I'd like to see what he could do if he appeared in another movie.

You seem like a guy who prides himself on being an action fan yet you just came off as a pretentious, whiney little runt who thinks he knows better then evrybody else. You seem to be giving this movie a uch more critical analysis then it deserves, the movie wasn't trying to be ground breaking, it was trying to be fun and Fung achieved that
in his rather capable directing, the guy makes a good commercial film director and I hope he goes on to make more movies that will be as consistantly entertaining as this one.

"I am Yulaw, I'm nobody's b*tch, you are mine!"

reply

The worst thing about this movie is Michael Wong. He never could act but now he cant even be bothered to speak his lousy Cantonese. Having a scene where Anthony Wong is speaking to him in Cantonese and he's replying in English is just ridiculous.
Apart from that I'd say the movie is watchable, but at least its good to know Hong Kong is still making some movies.

reply

wassup, this movie was very good the guy above is a racist!
i mean if you look at the american/canadian martial arts movies this year, they are all gay like vampire assasin where acting is so crap and no story.
and jet li is doing stupid action movie. This one at least reminds you of wong fei hung movies they used to make. and the martial arts directing is by a master not some noob hollywood director

reply

I must say thats a bold statement but I must disagree abut the Jet Li, go watch Danny The Dog and what for Legend Of A Fearless Fighter far from crap I assure you but this is getting off topic so I Say again, House Of Fury is a good movie, not great, but good.

Honestly, the Hong Kong film industry has been doing horribly, so all their movies are "fuzzy cute". But, believe it or not, most people in Hong Kong DO enjoy watching these movies! And Stephen Fung got a directing gig because he found someone who was willing to financially support his movie. Oh, and your comment about Jake Strickland having more kung fu skills that a cast full of Asian adults? Well, perhaps it was because Jake Strickland was cast into the movie FOR his martial art skills, and not for his acting skills. The others, however, were casted for either acting skills, or looks. (Ha.) No matter HOW hard you try, you can't really push these fully-matured actors to learn martial arts and be better at it than some young, capable kid who has been practicing kung fu for quite awhile. It would take years and years of dedication and practice for 50-60 year olds to catch up to a young teenager (like Jake Strickland) who has been practicing for several years already. So, yeah, the movie might seem a LITTLE inaccurate in that area, but hey, the actors gave their best!
I'm definitely not saying that this movie is really great, but they sure put a lot of effort, and they did quite well, given circumstances.

reply

did fung get this film made because of his triad connections and being related to jackie chan?

'You need people like me so you can point your f--kin' fingers and say THAT'S THE BAD GUY'

reply

I agree with the first poster. This movie is terrible. From the cheesy Chinese jokes, and the awkward English dialogue to the inept pacing, this film is definitely an overrated BOMB.

reply

uh you do realize that the dubbed English and the subtitles aren't really accurate?? Whatever u think is corny or whatever might not be to them, and what doesn't make sense in English makes sense in HK.
