A blatant ripoff of Godzilla

The best part of this film is the theme song and the party scene.

Group of party kids: "Gee we really like dancing!"
Cops: "Gamera is coming to kill us all, we need to get out of here!"
Group of party kids: "I say we keep dancing!"

Funny stuff.

rip off is an understatement, they only changed the name

Screw Godzilla.
I loved Gamera growing up because he, unlike Godzilla, was a friend to all children.

I agree but if you look at all the other knockoffs of Godzilla from the 50's and 60's, Gamera is only who made it. Plus the 90's trilogy is really good. Gamera: The Brave is okay, it takes him back to the friendly roots. And Shusuke Kaneko who directed the 90's trilogy directed GMK. Then another bit of trivia is that the actor who played Godzilla in GMK went on to play Zedus is Gamera: The Brave.
