SPOILER: How did Jiney escape

Probably a stupid question, but can someone explain how Jiney escaped from the chains? Did the bookseller release her for the kiss? I couldn't see how she got free from the chair. And can anyone explain why the bookseller placed the chains around his own neck. Was he wishing for Jiney to kill him all along?

I know these things don't matter, but they annoy me.

Just before he sat in front of her she wriggled around a bit and seemed to loosen the chains. I felt it was odd he didn't notice. As far as the chains, it was auto-erotic asphyxiation. It's not very obvious but you can see him slide his hand under his clothes and every now and then there is a quick cut him moving his hand around under there.
