Anyone else think that the subtitle for a scene at the market where Jin is talking to the chicken salesmen might be slightly wrong
The subtitle reads
"Otherwise I can't take a food picture"
Where if you think about it the it probably should have said
"Otherwise I can't take a GOOD picture".
Another mistake I noticed is when Jiney was paying for the books and the clerk said if she signed up for a discount card she would get 100% off. He then gave her the discount and it went from 1,150 to 1,035, a discount of 10%.

I just watched it and the subtitles are wrong all the way through.
Maybe it's just the version that I've seen, but the subtitles must have been written by someone who doesn't speak good english.
You can work out what they mean, but it's pretty annoying.
Same problem here. It is not that rare with Japanese fins though. Kinda getting used to it the more you watch and start to take interpretations.

HAH, I never even considered that. That might have been what she meant. I thought it weird too at first, but I justified it by thinking, "Maybe she realizes how strange her request is, and she's trying to make it look a little more clinical by explaining that she's trying to take pictures in stages, like from beginning (when the chicken is killed) to the end (when it's on the dinner table)?"
I was also wondering about the 100% discount thing. I thought about how I'd love to be a member of something that got me a 100% discount.

See, I interpreted the sentence differently- it made sense to me. I thought she was saying she wanted to make sure she was getting all the gore in the shot, otherwise it would just be a food picture (that is, a photo from a culinary standpoint, like you would find in a cooking magazine). It occurs to me it might sound strange to think a photo of a dead chicken would be a food picture, but I've read enough food magazines to know that's exactly the type of photo they feature when they talk about sourcing food. I just assumed she meant she wanted to focus on the death, not the chicken. It could have been the wrong translation, but it still made sense to me...
You are 100% on that 100% quote, though.
I'm sure it said 10% on the version I watched last night. Maybe my brain just interpreted it as 10% knowing it was a mistake but I'm adamant I read 10% in the subtitles. Out of interest, which release of the movie are people getting these errors from?
