Is it worth watching if you know who the monster is?

Hi,

I was reading a bit in Wikipedia and I accidentally came across the part where they mentioned who the monster is. Is it worth watching now or should I move on to another show?

On another note, can anyone suggest a show which is similar? I like thrillers, detective stories etc very much, but I do not like any supernatural material, though I was perfectly alright with watching death note.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for replying. I may choose to watch Monster at a later date.
As for Paranoia Agent, it seemed a bit supernatural and the idea of a child mugging other people does not sound appealing. Anyway, thanks for your opinion.

About Paranoia Agent, it is more surreal than supernatural. And it most certainly isn't about a child mugging other people, it's more exsistensial. I should warn you, it's fairly weird, and you will spend some time after watching trying to figure it all out. But hey, it's made by the late, great Satoshi Kon, that alone should make it worth watching.

Thanks, can you recommend something which is more similar to Detective School Q? Something like Kindaichi files will do.

Hm, I dunno any of those shows, and it was kinda hard finding info about them. But I would guess something like Death Note might be your thing, if you can look past the supernatural element. Which is indeed a major part of the plot, but I would say the cat and mouse chase is the most important and interesting theme in the storyline. Other than that, I'm mostly into the more surreal stuff like Evangelion, Paprika and FLCL, which I guess isn't your cup of tea.

I have already watched Death Note.
Anyway, Detective Conan seemed quite childish the last time I saw it. Looking for something really like Detective School Q.

I hear Master Keaton is a pretty good mystery series, but not as good as Monster. It's by Naoki Urasawa, the same dude who wrote Monster and 20th Century Boys.

Also, since you know who is behind the killings by the fourth episode of a seventy-four episode series, it hardly gives anything away.

You know who the monster is by 3rd ep. Confronting the monster is what is fun.

Johan is A monster, but not the only one in the show. It's quite shocking, that last episode, to learn that his mother is "the real monster." Everytime I think about it, I can't help wondering if it would have made a difference if she hadn't chosen one of her children to go with the bad guys. They were going to take a kid anyway, and they might have taken them both if she hadn't chosen, but it might have made a difference to Johan in his heart and mind if his mother hadn't made a choice between him and Anna.

uh say spoilers
and why would you think its a good idea to say what happens in the last episode in a thread that is obviously for someone who hasnt seen it yet and is worried about spoilers?

It's hard to answer your question about Paranoia Agent without spoiling anything. However, since it's only a 13 episode anime, I would say just watch it, because it's quite brilliant and not at all what you expect from the first few episodes.

Had a similar concern and started watching anyway. Since you read who/what the monster is I can assure you that the monster is completely revealed in episode 4. Considering the length of the series it probably does not really matter.

The question is not "Who is the monster" it's "What does it mean for someone to be a monster?Whats the boundary from monster and person who believes in equal human rights but are resorted to commit similar actions for their own believes (Tenma)"
