well.. sorry lacus fans.. i dont want to hurt your feelings but i'm kinda bit annoyed when it comes to lacus.. even though she is kira's girl.. i find her annoying.. i dont know why.. but it doesnt mean that i hate her.. its just i dont like her..

well, see, I liked Lacus in SEED. She was a lot stronger than I'd expected (I thought she was a prissy princess at first), and phase 36, when she's lecturing Athrun, really changed my mind about her. then I started to admire her for her strength, a different kind of strength than say, Cagalli. She uses words to fight, but she is also brave enough to go against Patrick Zala and forming her own group.
but Destiny kinda ruined my admiration for her. I dunno, she became waaay too...perfect I guess that it's a bit unbelievable. She's too mature, too knowing, too purposeful. Same with Kira. I liked his indecisive, little-boy self in SEED, and in Destiny, although I still like him, he's too omnipotent.
The reason I liked SEED was because its heros and heroines aren't perfect, they have their problems and flaws, and tough choices, and they may make the wrong ones. it's a lot more believable that way. Destiny Kira and Lacus are too...Mary Sue...

Shes dead do me for what she did to Athrun. He may not be pissed but I'm annoyed at her for him.
Athrun who was devoted spent all this time fighting trying to convince Kira to come back to the Plants with him eventually after a while he loses one of his close friends and out of rage tries to kill Kira. He returns home after being yelled at by this "Neutral nation" for fighting against his enemy which he already felt bad for cause it was his best friend. Only to come home to an empty home with no one their to greet him cause his Fiance(The Girl Who Hes supposed to be marrying aka supposed to be loyal to him) helps Kira without telling him disappears with Kira to give him a NUCLEAR Gundam thats top secret so he can go back to earth and do the same *beep* hes been doing the last 30 episodes. Then she goes back to the plants to chew Athrun out for fighting for the Zaft(Mind you this is just after shes given a NUCLEAR Gundam to someone whos fighting for the forces that Started this war by using Nuclear Weapons already). She concludes by settling down in a house with Kira on Earth.
My question is how would any of you feel if your fiance left you after hanging out with your best friend for a day. but she somehow finds a way to stoop lower than betraying you for your best friend. Shes decided to yell at you for fighting against your best friend when he left your country to fight for the other side. And gives your friend a nuke knowing full well hes going to use it against your friends
She's OK in the original Japanese version, I guess, but I find her dub voice really, really annoying, especially when they keep going back to her saying, "What is it you believe in? What is it your fighting for now? Is it for that medal you received? Or your father's orders." Lacus's English voice causes my ears discomfort.

Okay, I guess this is all just based on opinion, so I won't hate you just because you don't like her voice.
Anyways, I like Lacus. She has a very strong character, despite having long pink hair having a cutish voice (in both dub and japanese)and loving little pink robo toys that her fiance gives her.
Actually, no, I don't like Lacus Clyne, period. Her speaking voice in the original Japanese version is fine, but in truth I do not like Lacus Clyne AT ALL. And the reason I don't like her is that the writers make her so Mary Sue. And anybody who says she isn't Mary Sue is a fricking idiot.

shareI like her. I don't like how she got sissy in Destiny though. In episode 13 when they were about to be killed, she refused at first to give Kira the keys to access Freedom. So they were about to be killed and she worries about Kira doesn't have to go back into a Mobile Suit again even though he wants to so he can protect her. Then in the next episode she of course was okay letting Kira take Freedom to kidnap Cagalli and interfere in the battles in episode 22-23 and 28. Then in Episode 39, although she doesn't say anything about it, you can just read her body language and is pretty much saying, " Plz don't go out Kira. I don't want you to go out in a Mobile Suit again." If she didn't want Kira to go out into a Mobile Suit again, WHY DID SHE BUILD THE STRIKE FREEDOM THEN!?!?!? And again, she would rather die then have Kira go out and protect her. Thank god she strengthened up again to her Seed level in the final eps of Destiny. I know Lacus loves Kira, etc, but as already stated, she would rather have them die then have Kira protect her.

I liked Lacus Clyne, she wasn't very annoying (at least in the subbed verison)
I found her very powerful and created a nice storyline (like in Destiny with the whole Meer thing).

Lacus reject athrun for kira.Lacus character in destiny was portrayed militant and organized.she is slightly more reluctant to let Kira fight in destiny unlike in seed maybe because of his 2nd near death experience and his fight with rau.Lacus afraid to lose him.sHe bring back athrun confident to fight even his injured to help kira.What a lucky guy.She became chairwoman in plants.

Lacus is Kira's girlfriend. I am not 100% sure on the details, but remember back in episode 48 of Seed when Lacus pulls Kira aside and gives him a ring? In Japan it is tradition for the female to give the male her mothers ring when they declare their love for them. Or something along those lines. As I said, I am not sure how that works out.
shareNormally I am not one to complain about translations. I also think it is rather elitist to forsake all dubs as there are quite a few good ones out there (Gundam Seed NOT being a good one).
However, in this case I think quite a lot is lost regarding Lacus' character. In English Lacus sounds rather dull, if not a little stupid, especially during the earlier episodes. However, her Japanese comes off as intelligent and educated especially in contrast to the jarring and rough Japanese used by the rest of the characters. I think it adds a lot of depth to her character. For example it tells alot about her relationship with Asuran when she refers to him as okyakusama "honored guest". Also she tends to play around kira's name and various suffixs which greatly effect their relationship.
Makes me kind of want to watch gundam wing to see if relena is really as bad as I remember.... But I'd prefer to continue hating her :)

She's actually a genius. Lacus Clyne orchestrated her own assassination attempt. She also manipulated the Zala Extremists dropping Junius 7 on Earth. While ZAFT and the Alliance go kill each other, she secretly gathered her Terminal organization. With the defeat of Durandal and the Earth Alliance in shambles, she became the new chairwoman of the PLANTS with Kira at her side. In reality she's actually Lynn Minmay in disguise. So Hail Lacus-sama.

I kinda agree with Nerfherder18. Although I never saw the compilation movies so I didn't know that she became the new chairwoman, she has to be one of the strongest non-military woman roles in the Gundam franchise.
Kycilia Zabi-Freakin runs from Char and gets her head blown off-WEAK

There's Dianna Soriel in Turn A Gundam. I think I find her better than Lacus in terms of strongest non-military woman. I think she's one of the best written female characters in the Gundam franchise.
