Episode 26 is like WTF? Everyone dies, the time runs out and Gantz vanish into thin air? So are they trying to tell us "Hey you have been taken for a ride! HaHaHa Thanks for wasting time watching all 26 episodes which actually ends with nothing!"

I thought the same thing; about it being a paradox and all. But I kind had it with the Gantz. I was one of the stupid people who spent about $200 for the complete set (ten DVD's for $20 each). It was just not a good ending. Guess I'll wait till the Guyver start's showing on the shelf again...

What are you on about third world... new zealand is first world u moron get the facts before u spread slander and maybe 200 was a exageration for alot of money... but the ending in gantz it didnt really make sense at first but you gotta think about it for a while and it starts to fit into place i just didnt like where everyone dies u get attached to these characters and they all wind up dead its sad

shareWorking on the basis that the train station scene is a hallucination, not actually traveling back in time (which it has to be because the old woman is there, delivering lines she can't be delivering yet becasue at that point she still doesnt know where the platform was) the only thing that can be creating this hallucination is Gantz so why is he chosing that situation?
He's placing Kei in a situation where he knows he'll die if he attempts to re enact what he did last time (which is likley) but Kei suprises Gantz and, rather than running away, turns and fights.
Now, this all assumes that Gantz works on a mental as well as a physical level, which makes a sort of sense as Kei did shoot Gantz after the third mission (where they killed all the coolest characters. grrrr) and it did nothing.
If you asked me why Gantz decided to do this rather than just explode his head then I'd have to scream and run away because I have no idea.
this theory still doesnt work but it's the best I can come up with. Sorry.
It's a real shame about the ending because I thought the last half (from the third mission onwards, basically) was fantastic. what is it about anime which makes them have.... really quite bad endings? I really liked the ending of X, Hellsing and Elfen Lied but... the ending of Lain is a cop out, Triguns is unfulfilling and this doesn't make any goddamn sense.

If you want to understand Evangelion, then rent the motion picture End of Evangelion. It's still cryptic, but it makes a hell of a lot more sense then the 'art house' ending of the original series.

I don't mind SPOILERS, curiosity is killing me, tell me with details the ending... here in Argentina the Anime runs once a week (on Thursdays) and I know we are about to end the series but I want to know how much chapters far are we... and what happens in every one of them... we left in the chapter where the teacher is killed after inflicting the knife injury on the forehead to the older vandal, then outside the white-collar worker exasperates and threaten the group to shoot them...

shareI'd say most anime have fairly let-down endings... And I don't nessisarily mind an ambigious ending where you gotta kinda interpret it yourself, but Gantz ending just pissed me off.

Yeah, really. I'm usually all for endings like that and I grasp the meanning/s behind it, but after everything that happened...you kind of want there to be something good at the end. People hate "hollywood endings" but maybe there's a reason for them.
Back in my early anime days (like 4 months ago lol) another ending that really pissed me off was Inuyasha. Stupid Kikyo lol.
I really want to know if there are any other animes out there as good as this.
