Are Hollywood has-beens really like Valerie?

She's perfectly annoying and a control freak. I can't help but wonder if she's really imitating people in Hollywood

Interesting that the guy who writes this (along with Kudrow) used to work on a show that starred Shelley Long. Hmmmmm.....Revenge is sweet, served with Lisa Kudrow's smile, huh?

Don't know that for a fact, but I also wondered who Michael Patrick King might be modeling this character after. So I looked to see who he had worked for/with, in his early days... If you read about Shelley Long's Cheers last days, they were very rocky, due to her Diva behavior. Michael Patrick King wrote for a show she starred in, called "Good Advice" (1993). But he also wrote for "Cybill", after that, starring Cybill Sheperd. So....who knows? Perhaps Valerie is just a big ball of lovable, self-absorbed Bitch, from all his experiences with various Hollywood divas...?

At any rate, I LOVE THIS SHOW! So glad it got nominated for an Emmy!

Everyone has their own personality and react differently to failure. She was not aware, in my opinion, that she was a failure. She freely offered advise, put herself forward in situations that made people uncomfortable, because she saw herself as a "star", mentoring the new kids. Then she found out that they were more successful than she had ever been- Paulie G. had won an Emmy-- and so she went back into denial. I think she has a good heart, and doesn't want to admit that she's not accepted by the other cast members and writers, as "one of them." I think she is more pathetic than annoying, but she does come across as trying to hard.

When has Valerie ever acted like a diva (besides the lighting change which she gave into)?
Valerie may have her own agenda but she is always a team player.
I am certain that she would be the exact opposite of Cybil or Shelley.

Valerie so desperately wants to be 'on the team' and fit it, but she uses all the wrong tactics, while trying to be helpful. Paulie G has contempt for her, and the rest of the cast has pity or impatience. I really like her. If they changed her demeanor, the show would not be as good. The whole point of it is to highlight her efforts to be part of the gang. I don't think she is a diva. Just the opposite. A diva demands and Valerie tries to placate and make people like her.

Exactly!
One thing though her fellow cast members don't dislike her despite some of the awkwardness. In fact it's quite the opposite Juna and Chris both looked up to Valerie (although in very different ways).
Let's hope Season 3 starts production soon.

I just came across some videos Tori Spelling filmed. With how aware Tori and all her friends are of the camera, the clips remind me EXACTLY of footage on 'The Comeback'. So funny!
