Question about the magna's ending. (Spoilers)

I'm slightly confused by this magna's epilogue (Chapter 57) I understand Rosette's having 'an attack', and that she's dying. But then, Chrono appears and she runs into his arms.

The bit I'm confused about is this: Was Chrono actually there, coming back just in time to be with her when she died, or was that Chrono's spirit, appearing to bring Rosette to heaven or something? I've never understood how to interpret that ending.
