Horrible!

I watched 5 minutes then I just turned it off. It was awful. Dont make a "modern" day shakespeare film, and have them speak in old english. It just dosent work, at all.

If a film doesn't grab you in the first five minutes, that's bad. But if a film makes you reach for a bucket, well that's another thing. Also, because 'Shakespeare is grand', anything that tries to piggy-back off his name is therefore also grand? I don't think so. IMHO Shakespeare is used by a lot of substandard actors to try and make everyone take them seriously.

I just gave the movie five minutes and it seems like a slightly more tame Baz Luhrman Shakespeare- I'm still watching- And if a movie does not have you hooked by five minutes thats bad? Thats ADD-

What about Romeo and Juliet that was released a few years ago?

"Dont make a "modern" day shakespeare film, and have them speak in old english. "

Sorry to nitpick here, but Shakespearean English is NOT Old English.

"David Warner, you are under arrest by order of David Warner!"

Never be sorry to nitpick on a profoundly idiotic statement.

And if you are going to complain about setting a movie in modern times and having them speak in Elizabethan English, then you must also have a massive complaint with William Shakespeare himself. After all, he had no compunctions against setting plays in Ancient Rome, Greece, or medieval Italy, and having his characters still speak in Elizabethan English.

You know, I never thought of that...

And this whole topic disappears in a puff of logic.

Heeheehee...

All it means is that Shakey was a better playwright than Geoffrey Wright is a director, is all.

I was skeptical at the start, but you have to give it probably 10 minutes to get into it. It is worth sticking through, and it gives a unique look at the play. I wondered how Birnam Woods would move to Dunsinane, and they made that work. Worth a look.

"I wondered how Birnam Woods would move to Dunsinane,"

I wondered how they were going to do that, too - I thought what they did was rather clever.

I too loved how they brought Birnam Wood in. Very clever indeed. I really enjoyed the film. I am glad I decided to add it to my collection. I liked it much more than Luhrmann's Romeo & Juliet. But I guess I didn't like that film because I am not a fan of DiCaprio or Danes.

The past is history. The future's a mystery. The present's a gift.
