2:10 AM? and comment

hi,
does anyone know the significance of the 2:10 (2:09 -> 2:10) on the car clock at the very end of the movie?

i thought the movie ended really well -- with the images like 'vampire chickens', 'repeaters' (2nd hand store), the sheep etc. being part of the dream(?).

thanks

a close viewing will reveal that all clocks in the movie read 2:10, as well as the numbers coming up in other places throughout the film.

SPOILER>> this of course is the moment that he is trapped in, and the many appearances of the numerals could be read as reality leaking through.

thank you

wrong MJLM. all the clocks in the movie did not read 2:10. they read 2:09 which was the time of the accident that killed 3 people, perhaps 4 depending on what u believe happened at 2:10am. 209 was everywhere, addresses, apartment #s, their group #, etc. the entire movie took place between 2:09 and 2:10.

could it be that he lived? The three in the elevator 'let him go' and continued without him. That 2:09 became 2:10 could signify that at the end of the film 'normal' time began again.

I think there are many different ways to interpret what happend, I think only the film makers know exactly what it is supposed to mean.

I keep wondering whether he lived or not: remember when they shot him (near the end) and he did not die?

IIRC, the announcer on the radio (near the beginning) mentioned *the* accident and I think said 1 was in critical condition at the hospital.

The whole thing was his dream (imo) -- the parts with the bluish tint; at the end, the scene was in color.

He definitely survived, otherwise he wouldn't be able to dream it. The overarching theme of post traumatic stress disorder leads me to conclude that the accident is what lead to Joel's PTSD, and the movie is about his coping with it.
