Was this like The OC?

I watched this tonight, having recorded it from satellite TV, and have to say that, although I'm a bloke I really enjoyed it, even though I suppose it's meant to be a chickflick. Anyway, whilst watching it, I coudn't get over the feeling that I was watching an extended episode of The OC, which was on our TV screens a few years ago and, yes, which I enjoyed also. I thought the actress who played Kim, Rachel Bilson, was really attractive and so looked her up on IMDB. Well, what do you know, she played Summer Roberts in The OC!. Was Michael wrong to go with Kim?. I think not because, as Kim said, he would not have been with her unless something was missing from his relationship with Jenna. I think most men will say he should have stayed with Kim and most women will say he should have gone back to Jenna, although they'll probably also say Jenna should never have taken him back. Me-I have no doubt, stay with Kim coz Jenna is a controlling freak

Whoa dude. How is Jenna a control freak?

Yeah, you could argue that she overacted with the knife and stuff, but hey.. she just found out that the person that she was supposed to start a family with (and trusted) just lied to her face so he could go and bang some other chick.

Jenna's "all you could have wished for". The guy said it himself. But yeah, sure, I'm a guy and I would have went for Kim also.

But the thing is Kim's the only unrealistic part of this movie, in my opinion. Gorgeous twenty-something, smart, charming and cute in every way and still somehow completely infatuated with you.

But hey, who says things would have worked out with Kim? Can you imagine being a 29 year old architect having a real relationship with a college undergraduate? Even if that would happen in real life, things are bound to change. Kim is young and foolish. Girls like Kim are bound to mature rapidly and wake up wanting something else. Then you'd end up as a thirty-something that invested time in a relationship with someone 10 years older than you, only to get dumped.

Um..

Never watched The OC. It seemed like a bad teeny soap opera where unattractive people apparently don't exist.

This is not a chick flick in the slightest. Both men and women could enjoy it but it is written more from the perspective of the men who guys are going to relate and be more sympathetic to than girls who like chick flicks.

This was not a chick flick at all. As a "chick", I was really pissed off with the female characters and the way that they were portrayed.
