Dieter as a charicature

Yesterday, I found the video to "Gasoline", and to my delight, it was a funny cartoon of Dieter. An instant favourite! :D Why? I think it's because it reminds me SO MUCH of the stories we wrote some years ago, me and a few other MT fans.

Crazy stories, where everyone was reduced to a cartoon charicature of themselves. Dieter the self-absorbed composer who keeps saying "you know", Thomas the "or whatever" guy who was sweet and semi-normal but slightly weak, Eric the rapper who didn't say much more than "uuuuh" and unintelligeble rapping noises, Nora the bad guy, Naddel the mature woman who has to put up with a lot, Guido the rude bloke no one understands, etc. etc. etc.

The stories were HILARIOUS!

Since I re-structured Weidungs Welt, Fanmade went offline. I should put it up again, just so that people can read those strange stories again. Like "Im Studio", where Thomas defeats a religious cult by his song, "MT and the 101 Rappers" where someone thinks it's a good idea to make 100 clones of Eric Singleton... not to mention the incident in Mallorca where Dieter loses his phone and gets in deep trouble, or when Quischi is dognapped and Thomas faints, only to wake up thinking he's Britney Spears... EXCELLENT stuff!

For now, I'm afraid I can only provide you with the stories I wrote myself:

http://www.traxy.net/writings/mt_rappers_anonymous1.shtml
"Rappers Anonymous" Eric goes off to USA to attend the annual Rappers Convention... (two parts, unfinished)

http://www.traxy.net/writings/mt_the_wedding1.shtml
"The Wedding" Thomas and Claudia are getting married. Or not, if it's Nora's decision. Lots of Japanese tourists and a couple of paparazzis! (4 parts, unfinished)

http://www.traxy.net/writings/mt_what_a_nightmare1.shtml
"What A Nightmare!" Dieter has a horrible nightmare, and then it turns out it was true! ...Or was it? ...And they all end up at Blocksberg. (2 parts, unfinished)

http://www.traxy.net/writings/mt_wgacad1.shtml
"What Goes Around Comes Around, Didi..." Just goes to show what can happen to the "most successful composer since EVER in Germany" when the people in his compositions turn against him... Features guest stars such as Dr. Mabuse, Eddie Izzard and MacGyver!

Oh the nostalgia... :D (Hm, I really should finish those unfinished stories.)

You must have a strange sense of humor.

The German "Spiegel" magazine had this to say in their review about the movie: "Dieter- das Desaster", to continue: "Komplett unamüsant war denn auch "Dieter - der Film" am Samstagabend selbst. Das Trickfilmchen, das RTL verständlicherweise vorab nicht der Presse zeigen wollte, zeichnete sich durch eine Eigenschaft aus, die Blondinen ganz allgemein unterstellt wird: Je teurer man sie ausstaffiert, desto billiger wirken sie."

This is the only cartoon movie that is 100 per cent humor free.

Uh, you missed the whole point of my post. My post wasn't about the movie. It was about making Dieter Bohlen into a cartoon character and how it reminded me of some stories we wrote a few years ago, which were very cartoon-like.

And also, at the time of writing my post, I had not SEEN "Dieter - Der Film". I have now. As I don't know German enough to be able to understand more than perhaps 5% of what they were saying in the film, I DO NOT KNOW if the movie is funny or not. I have no way of knowing if the lines the characters say are funny or not, as I don't understand the language.

So yes, if I knew German, maybe I would see how bad it is. But as ich sprechen kein (oder sehr klein) Deutsch, my view of the movie is based on the cartoon. It's OK animated, the characters are well-designed, and the visual gags amused me, as they were - of course - all I had to go by. Like watching it without sound, you know. Can only see what they do, not hear what they say. Maybe that was for the better, ja? ;)

I thought it funny because it was such a piss-take on Dieter Bohlen. They made him out to be a breast-obsessed womanizer who got into music just to get girls to be interested in him, and who couldn't get a hit for years and years. My regards for Herr Bohlen aren't very high at all, just BECAUSE he's that breast-obsessed womanizer. So when a film comes along portraying him like the cartoon character he is (although, in a bit more sympathetic way than in real life)... it's like "See? I TOLD YOU SO!"

Glad they made Nora to be the bad guy in the 80s and Thomas Anders like her victim... which is, as far as I've heard, was exactly how it was. He was young and weak and she used it.

Thomas Anders I like as a person, Dieter Bohlen I do not, even though I'm a Modern Talking fan.

But yeah, "Dieter - Der Film" is probably rubbish script-wise. I bet the stories we wrote ourselves were a lot better AND a lot funnier. The animation studio should've made them into a TV-series instead. ;)
