Why Swanson and Nelson?

I was attracted seeing two decent actors in the cast list. The movie however is a bummer (and I am someone who will watch B and C sci-fi movies). I guess everybody has mortgage payments to make.

Theses days, Tibor Takács seem to have a lot of mortgages payments to make...

Neither seemed to be much into the film, so maybe the need to make a paycheck was the primary motivation.
